How did you choose your user name?

I saw this post on another forum and enjoyed all the answers. Some of them I can figure out but others are curious. Just before I joined, I got a new goldendoodle puppy. She's the first dog I ever adopted before she was born so I got to see her when she was a few days old and when she was a few weeks old. We got her when she was 8 weeks old. She came from Georgia so I named her Georgy Girl. Hence, Georgysmom. How about you? How did you come about your name.

Every since getting married 12 years ago my Chicago born and raised husband believed for two acres of a land with our first home. We got 2.25 acres and a beautiful home.

My answer kind of sounds like a rap song....sing along with me....to a snappy beat. *uh-uhn-uhn-da-uh*

    My name is Dee
    And it's plain to see.
My last name starts with S
So there's really no reason to guess.
When I joined GW a long time ago
I didn't know which way to go.
Couldn't create a user name with flair
so I pulled it out of the air.
    My name is Dee
    and I'm a little crazy!!!

    *bah-biv-boof*

    Peace/out

Fly, I borrowed that pic off of Tripadvisor. It's not one of ours. That castle was used in the Michelle Pheiffer movie "Ladyhawke". It's gorgeous and we've been privileged to dine there twice. Once was for a business anniversary dinner where the company's owner went all out for his employees. Shee, nope, it's not fish. That's prosciutto, the famous ham from Parma. It's one of my favorite things to eat. :) They serve it on big platters with chunks of Parmigiano. Here is a link that might be useful: Castle

Ok roof guy coming on Friday morning (finally). We don't do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g fast around here. We mull it, consider it, linger over, wait and wait and wait. But usually we like the end product. Anyway, I'm looking at two colors on the Owens Corning site called Estate Gray and Williamsburg gray. The roof guy said we can choose from Certainteed or Owens Corning colors. All you guys who used Certainteed's Colonial Slate, does it have a lot of pattern to it? Any help or thoughts are much appreciated!

What name did your grandchildren choose for you?

Well, my screen name is a dead giveaway now. I'm GiGi and my husband is Lebanese, so he's Gido ("g" pronounced like a "j"). Siti is the grandmother in Arabic, but my DMIL is Siti (good) so my first GDD called me GiGi and I love it! My precious grandmother (mom's mom) was Mimi, so in my mind, that name was taken...and never to be so again. I really like what they call me!

My real first name is "Janice" but that was taken, also "Jan" so I chose "Jannie", a nickname from when I was a child.

It is the name or our homeplace, when we first bought our home and acreage around it , it was loaded with thistles, so we decided to do a play on words naming it Thistledew.

My grandkids used to spend a lot of time with me when they were little. One day when they were examining my latest 'gadget' I'd gotten, the oldest one said they were going to have to start calling me gadgets. They called me that for quite a while. That's the first thing I thought of the first time I was asked to create a username.

I had to re-register at some point after ivillage took over. For some reason, I couldn't log in with my old GardenWeb name anymore.

Previously, I had only posted in the garden forums for the most part, so I renamed myself gardener and just added old in front of it to distinguish my name from all the other "gardener" names...and because I'm old. ;)

Another with no imagination here. Just name and birth year.

Lily was one of my cats who died last year. I have always liked the name so...and it's short and sweet and no one will have a problem deciding my gender.

I chose my name because of our "precious" furbaby.

I used my first name and tried to add "12345," but this was already in use, so I started with "2".:)

I have various online names but my real nick name has been Raven for a long time, I have raven black hair almost blue black(with more and more silver these days), and I am Cajun which is where I get the hair from so together I am RavenCajun. I am apparently not the only RavenCajun on the internet however, I have run into at least one other one but I believe I have had that nick the longest. It is a spin off of RajunCajun/ RajinCajun which is a much used term, if you google either one there are a lot or results. Including a great radio station here you can give it a listen.

I just combined my first and middle names, something I could remember!

Obviously I'm a transplant from the Gardening Forums with a "thumb" ranging from brown to green. What was nice over there is that posts showed our screen name our location and zone. That is very often so relevant. I think it still shows up that way over there.

Somehow, I was on that side for a long time before I discovered THS.

Ah come on out Jasdip and tell Georgysmom what your name stands for--LOL!

    I'm Patti, born in 43.

I am Moni, and I live in Oklahoma. :)

I know what jasdip stands for, Patti and I love it! I've been enjoying this. As I said, many of the names one can figure out and some of them I thought I had figured out but was wrong. beengardening for instance. I laughed when I found out she doesn't even have houseplants, and ravencajun. I figured out the cajun part but was convinced in my mind that she was a redhead with a temper LOL. Jasdip, you have to let all the newbies know what your monica stands for but also, how you came to choose it.

I used to have a different user name but had to change it for some reason. Now, it is my first and middle name.

I was a very young grandmother raising a grandson (with 19 year old divorced daughter) on a military base in Scotland (very small) and just couldn't imagine him calling me grandma around the neighborhood...so Nanny was born. In 1997 other grands moved to Okinawa and I got my first computer so that I could stay in touch with them. They are grown now, but the older GS at age 37 just had his first child...our first Great Grand Daughter....and so Nanny lives on.

I had a terrible time with groundhogs raiding my garden when I first joined gardenweb. I chose a name based on what I had spent the summer trying to do which was hunt down the groundhog!

I don't even remember what first brought me here, maybe gardening questions? I had just moved to Arkansas and was so happy to be there on a huge 52 acre plot of land with tons of trees. After I moved away to ohio, I didn't feel like starting all over and being a new member and losing my membership time under my belt.

Matti is a combination of my married name and maiden name. I'm Italian so everything needs a vowel at then end! The #5 is me, DH, two sons and my dog.

Don't really know because DH made it up. I imagine it has something to do with our profession, which is putting people to sleep. And of course waking them up.

Well, in case you are wondering, here goes.

JemDandy: I facet gems as a hobby and JEM happens to be my initials, so that part is understandable. I added the tag, Dandy, from an old folk expression, Jim Dandy. When something was good, or pleased someone, or overly fancy, I'd hear my mother say, "That just Jim Dandy.", an expression stemming from her childhood and pioneer southern culture.

I bet you did not guess this one.

No Jem I wouldn't have guessed yours. I do remember the expression Jim Dandy, though. I think it's fascinating that you facet gems as a hobby. See, we learn so much about a person when finding out how they chose their name.

I'm assuming sleeperblues or her husband is either a hypnotist or an anesthetist or they're very boring people. LOL

Ghoghunter, I couldn't figure out your name, or even how to pronounce it. Groundhogs! That's funny.

JemDandy, I always think of it as Jim Dandy when I see your name.

There was an old melody one the radio one day "Just Another Day in Paradise". I was having a few bad days of things just not working out right.

So I thought yeah, a sh*tty day in paradise. So the acronym for Jasdip was formed.

    When I re-joined, I had two Greyhounds.

Chose mine when I was on AOL and just kept using it.

I was working as an administrative assistant, but was still being called a secretary. Sooo, I just shortened Secretary Steve (as one of my bosses called me) to secsteve.

True story about using that handle. While giving someone my information about where to send an email, I gave them the email address, there was a very long pause and then "was that sexsteve?" As you can image I completely lost it,

I'm glad you explained it Steve. When I "say" it, it sounds very much like how that other person understood it.

Almost a week of wedded bliss. How's things?

I thought Donnakt was Donna kitchen table and secsteve was secretary to Steve. It's funny how we interpret some of these user names. I've enjoyed hearing how they've all come about.

Mine is the first part of my email address.... my initials (at the time) and a number that a defunct internet provider called millcomm.com tacked on to make it original. When I switched to using Charter Cable Modem, I had them set me up with the same ID. And then came GardenWeb and the KT :-)

jasdip going good so far. But we've had 32+ years to get it right! lol

    Thanks for asking.

Being Italian, I chose Italian money (Lira) but added an extra i just because I'm different!

I think I first registered on KT back in 2001 but under a different user name so I have been on here quite a number of yr's.
When I got a new Computer in 07 I registered again and I came up with sunshines as I live in Fla and the sunshines all the time.

Since I have such a "kooky" name I will explain. I was gardening when I started and sometimes had a leaky hose near a old pump. I noticed a little toad hanging around the puddle by the pump so that is why I am pump-toad.Actually, I think I have a family of toads now which I enjoy.
