Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/5
Comments (17)GS sounds great-- I had more beans this week too and I will keep that up. I like them and they are sooo filling! And thanks for mentioning facials, massages etc .. your post encouraged me to use self care kinda things for "treats".. the next bunch of weeks are going to be a strain and my birthday is in April. I will definitely be wanting treats and rewards that are not food! I think I may get some new sneakers too-- I have been wanting to try the On Cloud sneakers ever since I bought my niece a pair in Oct. Sue, great roadtrip options! Hope you have a great trip! Is this the weekend in PA? I had actually thought about going into Phila today but nixed that when the temps plummeted. Among other things, I wanted to go to the Weitzman museum downtown to choose another trovelore pin for my jean jacket. Instead, I will make a pot of soup today -- not sure what as yet. I have to consult the pantry and go from there. I am also going to do some shopping for tops and/or jewelry to up my video game. I have been doing 5-6 interviews a week and I have been looking blah. i want to perk up my look!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/12
Comments (14)Funky I can get very corny but I'm much appreciate your starting this thread. Funny you mentioned about warm weather foods. I went out and bought all kinds of fresh greens and we gobbled them up so fast. It's funny how the shift just happens. Now that's all I want to eat but I still have to go through some of my winter veggies. Gscience is it worth the scheduling and physical pain you must have been feeling with doing the mat Pilates? Is it something you plan to add into your repertoire? I don't have great flexibility and always looking for ways to make myself improve it.. sounds like a spa day would have been perfect after it :-). Jill I think our bodies are flexible enough to handle a few higher calorie things like birthdays and besides Cake. :-). Feathers both you and me with the water. I also don't lift weights really but I use weight-bearing exercises and always wonder if that's enough. My gym isn't set up all that well so that is something I'd have to work on. Apparently boredom is good for you. It is when you can come up with fantastic or fantastical ideas. :-). Or at least that is what I tell myself when I am doing a boring exercise routine which I know will yield results anyway. Sometimes I wonder why I am afraid to be alone with my own thoughts anyway. :-). I need to take my own advice about with regards to yoga. I find it boring and didn't reincorporate it into my exercise routine. Except for a few minutes here and there. Especially when people remind me that it is great for increasing flexibility.. I wear a headset when on my equipment. I'm not sure if you could do that in the water though.. Things are going okay for me. Did not do enough treadmilling and only did five push-ups so owe quite a few more to the cosmos. I also have avoided the scales like the plague. I did not step on the scales on Sunday. I just am not ready to face them right now. Shrug. The last weigh in was perfectly fine. Don't know why I am avoiding it. Probably so I can eat lots of pierogies. As explained below. I also do not want to step on the scales this coming Sunday. I will be eating pierogies on Saint Patty's Day and then on my anniversary I will be eating pierogies again. I know that I weigh more for a few days during that time. I should really face it but not sure I will this time. I primarily eat whole wheat or sweet potato starch pasta but I find myself eating less and less of it. I am mainly using coconut tortillas which are for three tortillas 135 calories. I usually only eat one or two. That is way fewer calories than what is in my pasta. I'm not very good at counting fiber etc but do have great admiration for those who do. I could definitely use some fiber management for regularity.. Black beans is something I do consume but probably not it often enough to make a difference....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 2/4/2024
Comments (41)Oakley, I hope you are seeing an endocrinologist and will enroll in a diabetes management program through your health insurance. It sounds like you need guidance, and that you could be shortchanging yourself by substituting the internet for sound, ongoing medical advice. Jojoco, you’re still well within the healthy BMI range and clearly don’t ”need” to lose weight, but I understand how good it can feel to have control over something like that in your life— especially when you’ve lost control of other things. I do weigh every day and as long as I stay within a five pound range I no longer worry about my weight. Just eating in a restaurant can cause a two lb increase on my scale from additional sodium alone. I have—almost— eliminated alcohol from my diet as was recommended for my autoimmune issues, and that caused a noticeable but not ongoing drop in weight 18 months ago. I track my food intake assiduously, more now to note how I feel and how much energy I have after eating certain foods. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to track and weigh as long as they don’t become ends unto themselves....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 3/17/2024
Comments (14)Yes, happy St. Patricks’ Day! 🍀 We are cooking our corned beef. I buy this uncured corn beef from Earth Fare that is super tender. So, now we need to add the vegetables soon. I normally don’t care for it, but this brand is super good, Garrett Valley Farms. JoJo, glad you are listening to your body and following up with your doctor. DH and I did some yard work today. We got a new garden bed, but I think I finally found someone to do the deck so we had to move many things away from the deck. So, that was my workout today. But hopefully we can get ready for the planting season. People are planting, but it is way too early. Our last frost is April 15. DH needs to refresh the beds, and we need to do a lot of weeding. OTOH, our chives, two types of parsley, and mint are back after going dormant for the winter. I could not refill my Zepbound because CVS is having supply issues. they told me to check back tomorrow since they usually get shipments on Mondays. So, if it’s not in, not sure what happens other than I try to call other pharmacies like Harris Teeter or Costco. I’m also supposed to see the weight management clinic this week. I got my blood results back, cholesterol is good, but A1C is unchanged at 5.7. But I’ve only been on the intro dose and not the therapeutic dose. I’m supposed to move to 5 mg this week and that’s what I can’t get. At least I managed to get into Pilates group class Friday thanks to a last mintue cancellation. I did Zumba step yesterday and then the yard work today. Back to school tomorrow. Time went by too fast for break. Now I have boatloads of grading and advisign to do. Have a good evening, everyone, and I will report back after the doctor....See MoreFunkyart
