Furniture Design Dilemma Home Decorating

can I mix master bedroom furniture styles and color?

I have heirloom quality Louis Philippe bedroom furniture in cherrywood (leans to dark brown, less red), but I desperately need some more storage. I fell in love with the design and functionality of this wardrobe, but I am concerned it’s going to clash with the other pieces. Thoughts? I don’t want to invest in something that looks out of place

I think it is the white finish that doesn’t make them compatible. The style and design makes for an interesting piece, but would only consider if it was in a different finish.

I LOVE your room. The colors make my heart happy. Mine's a collection of stuff. We had, a long time ago, an entire set of waterbed stuff. I was certainly ready for a change. I bought the headboard and shelf after my mom died. It was a last present from her kinda thing...the pieces came from a craft fair. I drooled over them for afew months before I finally brought them home. The chair is my 'run away from home' chair. As a homeschool mom sometimes I had to get away without living home. I have flowers and a birdfeeder out the window. There are no frou-frou window treatments. I'm not a frou-frou girl. Everything in the room has been collected over time. I couldn't bring myself to buy a matched set either. I needed personality.

Hello! Maybe having the nightstands also built of the same wood would be too much, but we usually make painted shelves (any color) with wooden drawer front, so in my opinion, that way the interior would have a lighter look - for example, having the shelves the same color as your wall and having the drawer fronts the same color as your bedframe or floor. Yes, I think pink is a beautiful color for a master bedroom! The trick is picking the right pink and then balancing it with other elements that are not overly feminine. I love pink and brown together, or black. When choosing a grownup ink go to the brown section in your color deck. As you move up to the lighter colors you will see what I refer to as dirty pinks. These are softer, more pleasing pinks that men can love.

The pic of your room is overly cohesive and looking for some more mixing and matching of color and style. This wardrobe is perfect. Swap out the lamps and vases for ones that are a close color match and style to the wardrobe. Put a grey-ish white throw at the foot of your bed, and a new rug that is a departure from the furniture and the autumn colors. Adding the wardrobe without changing anything else isn't going to work.

Is the pic you posted your actual space ? We need that for sure to even begin to advise. If that is your space then IMO the cabinet does not work especailly in thta color. Where is your closet can it not be reworked to give more storage . I think with all the matching pieces the odd man out will never really work.
