Where to buy good quality leather sofa?

We are looking to buy a leather sofa. What brands are high quality? Crate & Barrel ? Poly & Bark?

There is no "high quality" leather sofa available online. Just as there is no "high quality" fabric sofa online: )

A thousand people will argue there is, but it's truth.

Hancock and Moore is excellent, Taylor King is very good as well.. You need a quality brick and mortar furniture store or a designer for either.

Depends your budget for anything else, or even online. Construction and leather affect price. If you must buy one online ? I would look at Arhaus, or Room and Board - both have good customer service ....

Neither of those will give you the vast leather selection available at the "excellent " level.

You must remember too, , you can't flip a seat or back cushion with leather....( the back side has a breathing panel sewn in) .

I think it depends on your style too. IMO no one makes a better contemporay leather sofs than the Italians I think they first and foremost have access to some of the best leather in the world. The good italian makers use no springs , their furniture is leather everywhere not just on the parts your body touches . You need to go shopping and IMO decide what your style is before going. You need to sit, ask many questions to get a product that if good quality will last for a very long time .

I was in the market for leather furniture that had larger than average seat height and depth; I'm 6'. After several visits to the store and research, I decided on the Omnia Kingsbury sofa and chair with a Grade 3 leather. A whopping $5,000 purchase. My sales rep was very friendly and informative. The order took approx. 8 week before delivery. I was so excited to get the call that the furniture was in but after examination of the quality I am disappointed. There are several bruises in the leather on the front of the sofa cushions and the chair's cushion has a permanent indentation after only having the furniture for two months! The integrity of the furniture is just not there. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have purchased Omnia! I am not a happy camper. The seams are not even, all of the cushions are filled with different levels of filler and I ordered firm seat cushions but they are not. Based on the quality and integrity of this furniture, I could have gone to Raymour or Ashley, save thousands. Shame on you Omnia for charging $2,700 for the sofa and $2,300 for the chair. Definitely not worth it!

You really have to sit in the furniture that you are considering purchasing. The cheaper furniture lines will have compromises in either materials or workmanship. There is also a good primer here from drcollie (Furniture 101?) , serch his thread out here. I have read that there are some good furniture manufacturers in south Cal; maybe EliteLeather or ArizonaLeather. Then you could find somewhere in Tx that you could sit in the pieces that you want. What I have read, you might want to consider a protected leather because of your dogs, the better leathers may be too fussy. hth

Houzz has articles on most subects. Sofa design can impact quality by impacting comfort. What's the point of a well-built sofa if it's not comfortable to sit in. Sofa comfort is subjective. A short person will be more comfortable on shorter seating while a tall person will feel cramped. Throw pillows are intended to support short people in an upright posture. Keep in mind that as we grow older too low-to-the-floor seating puts stress on the hip joints when one attempts to get up. Make sure your furniture fits you.

Ethan Allen for custom sofas…excellent craftsman ship…important to choose a fabric that will wear well…fabric with high rub count recommended for high use upholstered seating. Bradington Young in real leather…will last forever. Have both…still look great after 20+ years.

If you have a Scandanavian design/furniture store near you, check them out. We've had several leather sofas and loveseats from a store called Danco Modern in northwestern Massachusetts. They carry different leather brands. We've always been pleased. Last sofa lasted over 10 years. I agree you shouldn't try to buy something online, you need to see and feel the product in a store.
