Not sure on what might go on in your bedroom, but are you really concerned about durability of leather on a headboard? Leather gets a patina that is attractive. There is more wear and tear on a sofa than on a headboard. Any leather or fabric headboard can be sprayed with a standard waterproofing you use on shoes and boots, to protect it from any water stains. If you're concerned about hair products staining on leather or fabric, I'd recommend Crypton Fabric Protection being sold by the furniture stores. Success for the room is dependent on where your windows and doors are located & how you lay out the room. I have attached a somewhat standard layout using the Universal bedroom set dimensions you noted with the King Size bed, dresser and 2 nightstands. If you use a King size bed, you'll want the larger sized nightstands so the proportions are appropriate to the bed. I'm not a fan of putting the dresser across from the bed, but I don't know where your windows are located. I don't recommend the use of mirrors over dressers. It's passe', and it's only promoted by the furniture manufacturers. People get made up in their bathrooms and closets. I recommend a full length mirror be installed somewhere for your use in your bed/bath suite. If you want a flatscreen in the bedroom, it could simply be mounted on the wall alone or with a small shelf beneath it. The bedroom pic in my first posting only had the bed, 2 nightstands and a chest for the husbands clothes and that room was pretty close in size to yours, but only 2 windows to deal with.

I purchased my previous sofa directly from a Penney's store that was going out of business. I think it was a Broyhill and it was a great couch and never had a problem with it. It was a great deal marked down from $1200 to $325- who can say no to that? The sofa prior to that was purchased at a furniture store and was a piece of junk- that I paid good money for, too. I had to get a second set after delivery because of damages to both pieces. I kept the set for about 6months until it fell apart.

I am not sure of the brand that we purchased for $500 38 years ago. I have had the furniture restrapped and painted several times at a fraction of the cost to buy new furniture. We bought it in Florida where it spent 3 years in a screened in porch and then moved to Indiana where it over winters in our shed. So I am convinced you get what you pay for. If you want quality furniture that will last....take proper care of it and spend the money to get the best quality you can afford. Strapped furniture can always be restrapped. Canvas, woven and the like will eventually fail and can those be repaired??? I am not sure about wicker. Cushions can always be replaced. Our furniture does not need cushions. I think Craig's list might be a good place to start.
