Gorgeous colors and combinations...I love all those tones of purple, GB! Love that smokey Mary Rose with the Fairy Dust as a perfect partner. I remember your Royal Velours and have always wanted to get that one since seeing yours. And Prince Charles & Polish Spirit are stunning together. I'm really drawn to Tental and Minuet too. Well, I'd love to have any and all of them! You have a wonderful collection and it's so nice to see them in a landscape rather than a stock photo....I think I need to get more clematis! :-)

With the limited experience I have. A reputable grower is trying to produce different hybirds and sells seeds to you/us with no different percentages of the seedlings being anywhere true, but hopefully with some similar characteristics or possibly an "new" hybrid. Which is then sold as grafted or tissue culture for a clone of the mother plant. I believe when purchasing seed, you cannot expect anything, just be happy with something different or uniquie. If someone wants a particular flower of liking, then they need to purchase a grafted plant, unless the nursery/seller is selling that plant in photo as is. Just my take on this. Rick

Ingrid, though I don't have any information to provide about Classic Woman I just want to congratulate you on your newest rose acquisition. Looks like you got a terrific rose! And it is great that you have the fitting companion plants already in place. I am curious to know if you detect any fragrance on your CW. Masha, your photos of this rose are mouthwatering! I think to combine it with a Gaura is a very good idea. Jeri, to my knowledge there are annual morning glories and perennial morning glories. My understanding is that the annuals also die here each year in CA without getting frost because that is just there genetic life span and if you want to have them again, you have to grow them from seeds next year. I don't think that they do any harm at all to the rose and they are easy to pull out. I believe nastarana is recommending one of those. But the perennial morning glory, which I think is called 'Blue Dawn Morning Glory' and is blue with lavender streaks and throat "is the devil" you are talking about. I have them in pots and I make sure that they don't wander away and root themselves somewhere close at the ground. My neighbor has these morning glories and they constantly come over the fence, through the fence, under the fence and try to find a place to live in our garden. It is a pain to not let that happen, a constant battle of pulling and digging!

3 of the 10 I ordered are no shows so far: Scotti, Lord Herschell & Harlow Carr. 2 weeks ago Tie Dye just poked it's head out, 2 stems & now only 4" tall. Hanajima just popped up last week. I do have past experience with clematis popping up out of no where...thinking they were dead. I had a sieboldii not show up til mid June last year, so I am still trying to be hopeful. I'd be most disappointed about HC. I am curious as if they are still selling clematis? When I google a particular cultivar they pop up sometimes with a shopping cart to buy?! I haven't tried buying anything so can't say for certain. Anyone know? I do have 2 other no shows so far that are not coming from CH. Weird I will have to say because at both nurseries I purchased at least 4 & all of the others have turned up. The weirdest being 2 Wallenburgs, 1 is growing great & the other I keep checking in the mulch...nada. LeAnne, Joy Creek carries Betina.
