Update on my Chalk Hill Clematis

I've ordered 16 Clematis from CH last summer. I guess I am a very inpatient gardener: I dug up those that remained dormant to see what is going on. Here is the result:

ONE of them looks perfect: multiple stems, lush foliage, buds (!!!)

'Sialia'

One is DEAD. Three pitiful roots just fell apart at the rotten crown. The bed has excellent drainage and very good soil. I am very upset because this variety was from my 'must have' list.

Cassis ÂEvipo020Â

Two of them look dead, but the crown is not rotten, so I potted them up.

ÂKing George VÂ

'Tango'

These are very small and weak, but alive. Hope they will catch up.

ÂAndromedaÂ

'Pamiat Serdtsa'

'Samantha Denny'

'Syrena'

viticella Wallenburg

'Juuli'

'Veronica's Choice'

'Warszawska Nike'

('Midnight Showers')

ÂPatricia Ann FretwellÂ

(ÂPafarÂ)

I do not remember, where I planted these two (LOL!)

'Tie Dye'

ÂEkstraÂ

And, finally, I NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS ONE!

montana Margaret Jones

I can see some tiny sprouts at the spot where it was planted, but the sprouts are RED!. The color of Peonies' shoots. Is it my Montana? I've never had Montanas before. Please comment if you grow it.

For comparison: ALL Clematis I received from Koi Gardens in small pots are up and look very healthy. The price was 2.5 times lower than CH's...

I do have some good news (OT)! My 'VIENNETTA' is growing! This is the first time I managed to overwinter it. I got it as a bareroot plant from Park's last fall (did not find it at other places).
