Comments (11)I got King Crab a while back; am eagerly awaiting its first bloom. Kingdom Without End is not a fast multiplier, but it has been divided once. Kensington Plantation, I see, is out of Victorian Lace. Very interesting. Kansas Kitten is a good performer here. Katherine Caldwell is an earlier bloomer. Not a rapid multiplier. Kiss My Aura looks like a bitone, though it is not registered as such. Around 5.5 inches. Out of Enchanting Esmerelda, but usually better height. The old Killer. Modest bud count. Katherine Marin was not as good as in 2022. Picture from 2022. Good height. Sometimes doubling, which I find less appealing. Kingdom Bound is in my view a superior cultivar in regard to color, bud count, and height. Kingdom Without End after division the previous year Emmerich's King of the Ages, a later bloomer. Moderate increase. Good height. Kansas Kitten in 2022 before division. Kansas City Kicker --a shorter Salter out of Sabine Baur. Color can be quite nice (and cleaner than Sabine), but didn't like 2023. King Kahuna --it is a nice double, though short....See MoreR daylilies 2024
Comments (14)Russian Rhapsody (heavy bloomer) is one I have kept just because of its early bloom. People always talk about lates as being season extenders, but earlies can serve that purpose too. And those earliest blooms are so welcome, whereas one is a bit sated at the end. Remembered Kisses had an off year this year (I remember few, if any, blooms). I got the garden almost completely weeded this week, and I have aches and pains to show for it. Ruler of Nations. Always seems to be clean. I have not seen it at clump strength. Roses for Dallas had a quite good year. Not registered height; just above the foliage. Riot Act --excellent performance last summer Rogue Primate. Vigorous and sunfast. Not quite as dark as parent Arrogant Bastard and has grown taller here. Rose Masterpiece --a reliable earlier bloomer. Red Venom --a Hensley that came here via Debra. Height here not yet clear. Rosie with a Ring. --a Derrow that has formed a nice clump; showy. Mike D. reported that it had an off year with him. Rhinestone Cowboy --good plant habit. Nicely spaced scapes. Rogue Wave --hasn't been fast to multiply Rainbow Butterfly. Have never seen a pattern, but it's darker than pic and especially attractive against the cream wall. Gossard Rainbow Maker --new and not heavily budded so far, but the windswept petal form is very appealing. Vigorous, but can't comment on plant habit yet. Royal Rendezvous --big plant Roman Cohort --had an off year because of heat and thrips, with weeks of no rain. Regina Sitko --beautiful flower, but sun will take its toll (as it does with most). Ruby Laser --rich early color on bloom just uner 5 inches. Ring the Bells of Heaven --after first few years with a lot of splotchiness, it has produced very nice flowers on a fairly vigorous plant. Ruby Grandeur has taken its time recovering from division. Sunfast blooms. Rainbow Mesa. This Hanson is shorter growing. Reckless Girls. This Davisson is a bit shorter than registered, but looked good last summer....See MoreSa-Sm daylilies 2024
Comments (21)So many Siloams that still make the grade in my book. Sherry: Your picture of S. Ethel Smith is so sweet. Love it..... Kate: S. David Kirchoff is pretty. I think I grew that long ago. I like that color range...... Brad: S. Amazing Grace is always nice to see along with one of my favorites of yours Smokey Mountain Autumn.....Debra: Classic picture of S. Double Classic. Sensational Heart is very striking. Salter is one of my absolute favorite hybridizers. Too bad they usually aren't hardy enough to last long with my pot culture....Nan: Sea of Cinders is one I always like to see you post. Love the oranges.......David: Siloam Melvin's yellow is another good looking Henry. Also I really enjoyed seeing your picture of Showtime Magic on the database. Nice shot .....Mantis: Sips of Sin was a first year plant here last year and didn't bloom. It's looking iffy in it's pot outside after the arctic blast we had this year. Fortunately I have a small division of it in the garage. So like you we will see. Santa's Little Helper will always be remembered by me with affection. It was the first red daylily I grew that I actually liked the shade of red. It's as close as daylilies get to true rose red (which in my opinion is the hallmark for that color). Hard to capture on camera but you did an excellent job................Maryl...See MoreU and V daylilies 2024
Comments (16)Victorian Garden Starbright did not bloom, as I recall, after being divided the previous year. Sterrett Gardens has Unbound listed as a dormant, but I think that is incorrect. Vegas Showgirl I see is a Gluck out of Rosy Scenario. Many of the VTs have attractive shadings of different colors in a single flower--RR Red, September Star, Bridal Lilac. I was surprised how striking Upgrade is. Still a fairly young plant here, but tall and vivid. Vision Seeker has great plant habit. Vision of Things to Come is taller than most Emmerichs. Vampire Bat looked good last year. Viagra Falls also had a good year. Like many, if not most, in this color, later day sun takes a toll. A quite tall plant. I did not expect Victoria Josephine to have such presence in the garden. Vampire Fish is a fairly young plant. Viva Pinata, newly divided, did not do much. Pic from 2022. Uppity Girls is tall. Looks promising. Vertical Horizon had a good year. Voila Francois bloomed on short scapes. Seems not to thrive here, but interesting. Victorian Lace had a subpar year, but still not shabby. Via Dolorosa fades in mid-day heat, but is an attractive flower. Not a fast multiplier so far, but good height. Velvet Hammer had an off year, with shorter scapes and some splotchy flowers. Vulcan Logic has done well here. Seems a bit bigger than 5". Distinctive color to my eyes. It's the sort of solid plant that one wonders why is not more widely grown. But Hansons usually are not well known even in the upper South....See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
