Do you need storage for games? Get a four drawer chest. Does your family read? Get a bookshelf. Do you need extra seating? Get a chair of wood, not upholstery and move the other chair farther from the corner. Definitely move the pictures lower. Instead of “filling the space”, analyze your family’s needs. Go to a consignment store and find a nice piece of furniture that is tall and has storage. And perhaps some display space.

I’d suggest coordinating both sides, using sets, as you need something more substantial and better balanced. Important to consider their height as well.

It doesn't need to be filled but I might find a larger something something to use as an end table that also has storage just to break up the matchy match in the furniture as well have give you more options.

Lower all your art it is hug way too high and not every space in a room needs filling. The art needs to be hung with the center of the piece at approx. 60" Why is the TV above the FP when you have a perfect place for it between th windows

I would put a bookcase there. Fill it with books or baskets for storage

If only you could put an outlet behind the end table so cord is not visible…..

Additionally, I think there is a better layout for your room. I would place the TV at a proper viewing height between the windows and then add seating. Not sure what is going on with your sofa that seems to be part of a sectional.

I would change the layout entirely to get the tv at more appropriate viewing height. Place it between the windows, play around with the seating. Then address what goes over the fireplace. Finally, decide what if anything you need on either side.

If you’re able to change your layout, it would be great to do that fireplace justice. I love the art Maureen posted.

It might be a good idea to look at removing the two pieces of artwork you have on either side of the fireplace. Then you could try shelves, two larger pieces of art, or another large plant on one side and a chair on the other side.
