Bacon bites from appetizer thread are pretty good!

Thanks to Aziline for posting the recipe. I made them tonight so all I would have to do tomorrow is pop them in the oven. After trying one roll (three peices) I made another, which I was able to cut into four peices because that one was frozen.

The recipe calls for one pound of bacon and the Kroger pack I bought only had 17 slices so was only able to make 17 rolls. Recipe said 20. I had gotten a little heavy on the first few rolls I made with the filling so I added a little more cream cheese and bell peppers. Then I had enough at the end to make a half sandwich with the filling. It was really good too.

To avoid shaking too much cinnamon, I have placed a strip of tape over half of them -- works nicely when I have too heavy a hand... =)

Yum, it sounds good. My girls both like smoked fish, but they are a bit odd in their tastes, LOL. I'm assuming that you want something cold and a bit more substantial than one bite, as some kids will be eating shrimp cocktails. How about these antipasto skewers? I got the "recipe" from the husband of my receptionist and I think substitutions would be easy if you can't get or don't want some of the ingredients. Antipasto Skewers 1 package (9 ounces) refrigerated cheese tortellini 40 pimiento-stuffed olives 40 large pitted ripe olives 3/4 cup Italian salad dressing 40 thin slices pepperoni 20 thin slices hard salami, halved Fresh parsley sprigs, optional Cook tortellini according to package directions; drain and rinse in cold water. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the tortellini, olives and salad dressing. Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Drain and discard marinade. For each appetizer, thread a stuffed olive, folded pepperoni slice, tortellini, folded salami piece, ripe olive and parsley sprig if desired on a toothpick or short skewer. Yield: 40 appetizers. The apricot bites are fantastic on their own but I would not call them savory— at least mine have not been, even without vanilla. The sweetness of the apricots one uses must be the difference? In whatever form they are a crowd pleaser. Glad they were a hit for you, salonva, I’m sure they were delicious. Regular cream cheese is a bit more tart than marscapone, and buying it already whipped is a great idea I’ll try for Christmas! Those spinach bars’ recipe sounds like mini crustless quiches, another great idea. Back in the 90’s, bacon wrapped prunes or dates were a staple at cocktail parties. That combination of sweet and salty is a great foil for drinks but I suppose they’ve fallen out of favor. We love prunes and they make a regular appearance around here in oatmeal and in lekvar prune butter on toast.

Eld6161, I don't have a recipe. Was just going to mix the cubed ends with egg, milk, maybe cinnamon. Top with some bits of butter and bake.

I made French toast today with leftover panettone. The mixture I used:
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup milk (I used reconstituted milk powder)
- 1 scant tablespoon Amaretto
- 2 tablespoons flour (or a bit more)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
I generally add some sort of liqueur to French toast for flavor, but also for tenderness. Adding a bit of flour (with baking powder) gives it more body. I would also add cinnamon if I were using plain bread, and I also do cook the toast in butter. I dusted the toast with powdered sugar after it was done.

Just threw it together and used evaporated milk instead of fresh. I had to remove some of the cubes and toss them when I accidentally put too much cinnamon in the bowl. Why are the holes so big?! Then I got the rest of the loaf out and cut it up and added another egg too.
