Bacon bites from appetizer thread are pretty good!

Thanks to Aziline for posting the recipe. I made them tonight so all I would have to do tomorrow is pop them in the oven. After trying one roll (three peices) I made another, which I was able to cut into four peices because that one was frozen.

The recipe calls for one pound of bacon and the Kroger pack I bought only had 17 slices so was only able to make 17 rolls. Recipe said 20. I had gotten a little heavy on the first few rolls I made with the filling so I added a little more cream cheese and bell peppers. Then I had enough at the end to make a half sandwich with the filling. It was really good too.

To avoid shaking too much cinnamon, I have placed a strip of tape over half of them -- works nicely when I have too heavy a hand... =)

Betty - the spinach doesn't tolerate heat at all. Since it has a very quick maturity date, you can plant another batch anytime over the next 2 to 3 weeks - if necessary. On the buttercrunch lettuce, I would think that you could harvest at any stage, as long as you don't wait too long. Also, I think your outer leaves are turning/wilting because of the outside temps. Mine are doing the same thing.It'll get better, as it becomes cooler. Ribbit - Sounds like you and I have almost identical weather/temps right now. The sugar snap peas didn't like the heat from the previous week at all. There's definitely some discoloration at the bottoms of the plants, but the new top growth looks much better. Granny - you should try cooking that spinach like we (southerners)do with poke salad. Fry it with some scrambled eggs. YUM! EG

But to narrow down the search....how about spinach brownies... And you can hardy beat a bowl of ice cold shrimp and some cocktail sauce. No one will compliment you on the recipe....but all will enjoy it. Linda C

Scallops wrapped in bacon, mini corn dogs with a mustard dip, egg rolls cut into smaller sections with sweet and sour dipping sauce, croissants Sliced open with thin shaved ham and sandwich spread, the brownie bites are good, they have these chicken pieces on skewers I think they are teriyaki flavor they are good. And of course their Boiled shrimp are very good.

When I make olive poppers I also make some with whole pecans instead of olives. Years ago I found the recipe on the Cooking forum here. They were called Weed's Surprise Cheese Balls. Weed's Famous Surprise Cheese Balls 2 cups grated sharp cheddar 1 stick butter, softened 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1 small jar pimento stuffed olives Sift dry ingredients together. Add softened butter and cheese. (use hands to mix) Take about 1 tsp of dough and flatten. Put an olive in the middle and wrap dough around it, then roll to make a ball. Place on parchment covered sheet pan. Put tray of olives in freezer until firm. Bake 15 minutes in 400 degree oven.

Eld6161, I don't have a recipe. Was just going to mix the cubed ends with egg, milk, maybe cinnamon. Top with some bits of butter and bake.

I made French toast today with leftover panettone. The mixture I used:
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup milk (I used reconstituted milk powder)
- 1 scant tablespoon Amaretto
- 2 tablespoons flour (or a bit more)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
I generally add some sort of liqueur to French toast for flavor, but also for tenderness. Adding a bit of flour (with baking powder) gives it more body. I would also add cinnamon if I were using plain bread, and I also do cook the toast in butter. I dusted the toast with powdered sugar after it was done.

Just threw it together and used evaporated milk instead of fresh. I had to remove some of the cubes and toss them when I accidentally put too much cinnamon in the bowl. Why are the holes so big?! Then I got the rest of the loaf out and cut it up and added another egg too.

I had to Google "French toast casserole". Sounds like what I'd call a bread and butter pudding. Yummy.
