Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! Comments (41)Oakley, I hope you are seeing an endocrinologist and will enroll in a diabetes management program through your health insurance. It sounds like you need guidance, and that you could be shortchanging yourself by substituting the internet for sound, ongoing medical advice. Jojoco, you’re still well within the healthy BMI range and clearly don’t ”need” to lose weight, but I understand how good it can feel to have control over something like that in your life— especially when you’ve lost control of other things. I do weigh every day and as long as I stay within a five pound range I no longer worry about my weight. Just eating in a restaurant can cause a two lb increase on my scale from additional sodium alone. I have—almost— eliminated alcohol from my diet as was recommended for my autoimmune issues, and that caused a noticeable but not ongoing drop in weight 18 months ago. I track my food intake assiduously, more now to note how I feel and how much energy I have after eating certain foods. Comments (29)Oakley hope the medication works. It seems to be working for my DS who has bad bad blood sugar fluctuations and not a great relationship with healthy food. She will be 65 soon enough so I don't think that will change. Shrug. Glad to hear that some of you are doing well with the water. Not I. It seems I can only get down two drinks a day. One is half water half juice and the other one is a cup of ginger tea or decaf coffee. I try to drink another half glass of water in the early evening but always seem to forget. Also I'm not a good protein eater. I think I'm failing in that whole healthy food thing. I fail dismally at replacing the meat for vegetarian protein sources, as I only eat chicken fish and seafood, when I eat animal protein food and often forget to do that. I do eat eggs in the morning and about every third day I add tinned sardines to my faux pho. I love it when I have it but can't have noodle soup everyday. Also I am disappointed that I can't dance my way into muscles.. ;-):-). I have to do more weightlifting so I'm going to try a Zumba with light weights class. I know I need it and if it is successful I will continue to utilize dance with weightlifting. I know they suggest backpacking with weights as well so perhaps I will try that. I suppose I could dance while I am backpacking ;-). Wishing everyone continued success and still totally envious of those who have Pilates in their life. Can't afford it. For some reason can't find a Pilates instruction online that I stick with. So far. ETA this squats improving exercise set. Comments (16)yum, GS! I so love halibut! I haven't been keeping up with the thread this week, my apologies! I am doing ok-- keeping on, as they say. One major misstep was picking up an irish soda bread -- a fav. I was not as restrained as I thought I would be. Good thing it was a small one! Otherwise I have maintained a pretty healthy diet. The grazing lunch plates are working out well ... they are especially good when I would otherwise skip lunch due to meetings or the need to get something done. They are easy and I can eat them as I am working. A lot of people like to do meal prep and assemble them on Sundays but it works pretty well for me to assemble them as my coffee is brewing in the early morning... then they are just ready to grab come lunchtime. I have been struggling a bit with body dismorphia ... probably because I have been basically maintaining since Sept. I look at myself and just don't see the losses I have accumulated... so when I ordered a pair of shorts recently, I ordered a higher size than I should have. No big deal, I can exchange them-- but it was a warning flag that my body image may not be accurate. I think maintaining a positive body image will always be a struggle for me and something I need to work on more actively. Definitely looking forward to more light in the evening! It is rainy and dark today but need to get out and active. I've only done so once this week so far! Sorry this is a delayed response but Jococo, glad to hear you are making time for self care! Hair appts always help me-- not only do I look better, but I love those 2 hrs at the salon that are all about me!...See Morenicole___
