Comments (18)I felt lousy for over a week, just today feeling pretty much like myself (so far). Tested negative 3x for covid and never had a fever. Just headache, intermittent sort throat, fatigue. This has happened to me for years. I will randomly feel run down, that ”I’m getting sick” feeling without ever getting truly sick with anything diagnosable, usually just for a couple of days. I mentioned it to my PCP a few years ago and some tests were done. All fine. I do tend to run slightly low on B and iron, and when I had long covid a couple of years ago I was borderline low so the dr recommended supplements. I have dropped them since, but I think I'll start again. The iron I have taken is this liquid that tastes like garbage but doesn't bother my stomach. I was getting a little worried about my upcoming trip so figured it couldn’t hurt to add this back into my routine until I leave. Funky, apples are so great right now! I have been having one every day, often with almond butter or as a ”side dish” with my scrambled eggs. I find that they feel more like a treat (and take longer to eat) when I cut them up. Oh, and sometimes sprinkle with cinnamon. My bday is next week and I am already planning a ”good eating week” interrupted briefly by dessert that night when we go out to dinner....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of Oct 1, 2023
Comments (31)I missed a bunch of updates this week-- my apologies! Welcome back, Sue! I seem to do better with a "bigger" or normal lunch and a light dinner too. It is hard though-- I need to not only have fast stuff stocked but I also need to have the time (I have had meetings over lunch or that cut into lunch). I am making a pot of soup now for at least the first part of the week. Dinner may be an apple and pb or a salad.. or more soup. GS, wow-- nice haul there! Congrats on the toning and the lost lb! I am going pretty well on eating-- and poorly on water and exercise. I am hoping things settle down in a week or 2 so I can get into a routine. I am fairly good with routine once it is established. I was going to make a turkey sausage and zucchini soup today-- but the zucchinis had gone bad in the middle (or they were delivered that way and I didnt notice). I didn't feel like sending a new order in so I adjusted based on what I had in the pantry ... I added black beans, chopped red peppers, and dried chopped hatch chilies & spices ...to the turkey sausage, mirepoix, garlic and chopped tomatoes. I may add frozen white corn-- but not sure it is necessary. Don't you love that about soup? You can easily pivot and make something delicious with whatever you have on hand!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/5/2023
Comments (33)Sue, any time I get called back for an ultrasound following a mammogram it’s unnerving. I’m sure they told you it’s pretty common but also know that doesn’t help your state of mind. I’ll be thinking about you this week. I’m trying to pick up the pace of my walks because a newer study says the cadence of one’s stride as well as the number of steps taken each day are positively correllated with better cardiovascular health and lower mortality. Continuing to eat healthfully and mindfully… my evening snack is now either a yoghurt or six almonds and six dried tart cherries. I went shopping with my mother yesterday and bought a sweater in a size small and was so pleased until I remembered I recently bought a down coat in size XL from Uniqlo to allow a heavy sweater underneath. Sizing really is ALL over the place! (Funky, i bought this coat because it’s more flat than puffy and one of the reviewers said it was the only coat she tried on that didn’t make her feel like she was wearing a duvet 😁 And I finally figured out why I don’t like down coats with the quilting baffles on the diagonal—- it looks like the underside of a turtle! ) Sorry for the aside!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 11/26/2023
Comments (7)I thought I was doing ok-- steady and mostly healthy diet-- but I have to acknowledge that the pounds I have been "up" the last few times are not normal fluctuations but increased weight. This is the first since I've started losing weight that I have a net increase in weight (vs the normal fluctuations). I am not happy about it but I do know where they've come from ... while maintaining a pretty decent diet otherwise, I have allowed some chips and other savory snacks in. I have also not been making soup as religiously. Soup is really THE easiest way for me to stay on track. This next month will be about keeping a lean diet most days and increasing my walking/exercise so that I can have small indulgences at holiday gatherings and on my trip. I could whine and pout and complain -- but I did this to myself. I know where I was too loose. I need to be more serious. I need to get excited to lose the next 10! Part of my strategy to get excited and focused is getting my hair done -- I know that doesn't make any sense lol but when I am looking good, I tend to work harder on all aspects of my appearance and health. Oh yeah -- and I am going back to weighing daily. Apparently being obsessed with the scale helps keep me accountable! How are you all doing?...See Morenicole___
