Bathroom lighting ideas?
Would like to replace the fluorescent tube lighting above our bathroom mirror (one of the bulbs dying again has prompted this thought) but unsure of what style would look good there. It’s only about 6.5 inches of space between the mirror and ceiling, and I haven’t seen many examples of lighting in that small of space. Thinking of a sconce type fixture going across the top? We already have two bright recessed lights in the bathroom.

3 months agoThere are other narrow flixtures you could select as well, in whatever number. If you have overhead lighting, you probably only need an additional light over the vanity. (I can't see vanity size or fixture finish, so just guessing.)

I'm really tight for space with my vanity - the vanity is 32" wide (33" with counter) and will be centered in an area between a wall and the toilet - area is approx 39" wide at it's widest. How can I put a mirror above the vanity and allow for side lights? Some of the side lights that I have found are only 5" wide and I can do a mirror that is 22-24" wide... Will this work? Comments (2)Thanks - their 12x12 LED wall tiles look tempting as well. (The top foot or two of my walls will be white as will the ceiling, so a top row of LED tiles would be an interesting option - albeit I'd probably prefer the LED for moldings that you mentioned. (Price, we'll see - I sent an inquiry.) I browsed around and saw some other LED strips, including some that are waterproofed but I think to a degree these would be providing a Christmas-light effect, unless they were entirely hidden. Comments (27)OH! THANK YOU! I am so loving ALL your ideas and suggestions, and believe me, I am seriously considering each and every one of them! OK... so I cut out some sheets of paper the sizes of the pictures we have been considering. The 4 pieces of paper on the long wall represent the four 13.5" Sturbridge ("4 Seasons") prints. I think they fill the wall nicely! The 2 pieces of paper above the toilet represent the two 8" x 10" Warren Kible prints (the cat and the pig). (Boo seems to approve!!!) THEN, I'll change out the toilet seat (probably a plain white one... or maybe black???), and maybe replace the magazine holder with something like this... ... and call it *DONE*!!! 3 months agothat's a good point about switching to LED. (IF that current fixture will let you switch over. you may have to switch out the balast.)
LEDs have single or double connectors.
AND, if you do want to keep that, how about painting the face of that white to match everything else? That dark wood really doesn't seem to work, and it brings down the ceiling. paint it all white
