Good Morning!

Up bright and early because kitchen cabinets were delayed until today. They were supposed to come Wednesday but the pulls never shipped to the cabinet maker.

I was also supposed to have a drive around to look at Christmas lights with my daughter and a friend that day, and homemade curry. My daughter got sick, though. She took a covid/flu swab yesterday and both were negative. By the time she took them she was feeling a little better so at least that's good!

Having leftover chop suey and coffee this morning for breakfast. My daughter is supposed to work Christmas day so we'll get together sometime afterwards. I had to buy a new stove, mine died. Was craving scrambled eggs all week and made the mistake of getting a McD's big breakfast one day. It was not good. So, I started to clean up the old stove and it wouldn't heat up. At first I thought it was the power but the light came on inside the oven and the burner "on" indicator. Just no heat. I ordered a new one from Lowes, which I swore I never would, but did anyway. Got a very basic glass top (first for me), GE. The cord they recommended when I bought it was wrong, instructions said to use a 4 foot not 6 foot because it would interfere with closing the bottom drawer. So, back to Lowes I went after the delivery. Had to go home and special order the four foot cord, online.

I know I can cook scrambled eggs in the microwave but they aren't the same. It's hard to get them soft scrambled.

I'm still waiting on my insurance company to okay my cpap machine. It's been over 2 weeks. I called the medical supply company on Monday and they said they'd send them a message. Still nothing. I guess I could call my insurance company myself today. I'm going to have to reschedule my follow up with the sleep study clinic now.

Going to spend the day trying to stay awake and read the rest of my book, Demon Copperhead. Been trying to finish it the last couple of nights but I always fall alseep before that happens. Anyone got any good recommendations for movies on Netflix? Or even Youtube, I'd be willing to pay for a good movie on Youtube. So, book and a movie for me.

Are you busy getting ready to travel to family/friends? Making food, baking for Christmas day? I really miss cooking, never thought I'd say that! Lol. Hope you all have a nice day, whatever your plans!

good morning to you, too! i spent 3 hours yesterday mulching leaves and getting outside work done. thankfully, my back doesn't feel too bad today.

looks like rain has set in for the day so i will go ahead and make fudge to take to the Christmas party tomorrow night with family/friends. i also managed to get the vacuum run yesterday and will do a load of laundry today. i have a couple of gifts that still need to be wrapped.

the dogs will get bored being cooped up inside all day so at some point, we will probably take a jaunt to town and indulge in some cheeseburgers for them and a diet coke for me.

sorry i can't make any recommendations for netflix or youtube movies unless you're a true crime junkie. in that case, i could give you tons. 😂

Actually, Nina, I am into true crime. Earlier this week on Youtube, a UK series, John Eylward, popped up on my page and I started watching them.

You are so lucky having that lake view and that mountain view and improved on that even with your beautiful plantings, congratulations! But living on a city lot, we can also improve, I only have a little pond and a lot of hostas, improving on that. Bernd

I had egg salad for my breakfast too. j Just a half sandwich. I was in a rush to get out the door to go ride. Passed the 90 mile mark in the virtual race today today! 10 more left. So proud of my school horse. We're sad it's coming to an end.

Paint: I would wait on selecting a color until you have your furniture and accessories chosen. The present color (in picture anyway) feels washed out and a creamy white would be more modern and crisp. - Built in‘s/tv location: with the width on both sides of fireplace being different, you’ll have to configure bookcases accordingly, if going that route. Suggest holding off on making a mantle change until you figure out wall - try to envision whole wall in your decisions Really like look below - Seating layout: really like your inspiration picture and as per the layout, centre to fireplace. If space in front of window feels bare, you could add the console table there vs behind couch as you enter

Good Morning I purchased a cabinet that came damaged

Hard to order anything bulky that doesn’t get abused and arrive with some damage. Can you live with it? If not, I hope you didn’t destroy the packaging even more because you will be required to repackage it and send it back in most cases. Maybe you can get a slight discount for the damage? The problem with ordering anything is if you need to return it.

I bought a basic GE smooth top from Lowes in 2019, also my first, and after I got used to it, it is great. The two burners in front will fit a small or a large pan and the two in back fit a small pan.

I "had" a fancy LG convection oven-stove combo in a rental. The oven kept going out. I went to Habitat during COVID & purchased a GE glass top, basic model for $165....and it's still going strong! LOVE IT!

We just watched a really cool show on Tubi called "Utimate Survival Everest". Discovery Team. Annabelle Bond is a British socialite. 2004. Her mom signed her up for it. She can run back to back marathons. She is amazing. Also a 68 year old man from Colorado, going up without Oxygen-bottle assistance. I beleive the whole thang is 4 hours long. Beautiful scenery!

    Happy Holidays Everyone! 🕎

OMGosh, sickness is creating such drama in my family. Plans are changing hourly. I am just going to cook for those who show up healthy, and have lots of plates to go for others. The one who comes from Texas is already on her way, and wants nothing to do with it all. I was sick last Christmas and missed it all. I too want some Netflix and am going to cut the cable after Christmas. Friends are constantly talking about Netflix movies, but I dont remember cause I cant get them yet. During my kitchen remodel, I had no kitchen sink for a month and a half, due to who knows what. I will never go thru a remodel with me being the contractor. It is worth it to pay the extra for a contractor. Dumb me.

Nicole, I don't think I've ever owned a GE appliance, at least I don't remember one. I've had good luck with Kenmore and Whirlpool but the Whirlpool reviews weren't great.

Ladypat1, lot of flu and covid here in Central KY. People going to work and out and about sick, spreading it. A couple weeks ago, a friend and I were out shopping in a home goods type store. Some woman was dragging around her son, who sounded like he had whooping cough. I don't know what's wrong with people. Hope your family members recover quickly.

Well I'm stuck sick...either again or still...no idea. But I am going to be better by xmas!! I've decided! I've had a thing since the week before tgving. I was finally feeling better for a couple of days, no sore throat, yay! And yesterday pm my throat started acting up. I went to book group figuring it was just more of the same (masked) and then this a.m. woke up with a temp over 100. So I'm suspecting I picked up a new infection and hope to god I didn't spread it to anyone else over the past few days. Xmas dinner is at my house with a total of 12. So we'll see!

Just learned this morning a friend with other health issues was sent to hospital admittance overnight with Type A flu. I'm so worried about her, she's not strong.

I'm excited for you, the cabinets are coming today? Can't help with the movies, movies and TV haven't really been on my radar the last couple of years - and I keep waiting for things to get back to normal 😊

This house has a glass top Jennair with combination convection oven, downdraft, when we bought the house. It's not my favorite stove. If you've never had glass topped, just a tip...your pans need to be as clean on the outside as the inside to keep it looking good. I use Weiman Glass Cooktop cleaner on it, the squeeze lotion type not spray and I never cook on it if its got previous spills or marks, always begin clean. It looks brand new and our best guess is about 18 yrs old....

Waiting for pictures of those cabinets....

Good morning. I had food poisoning Wednesday night through to Thursday morning (you all know what that entails), passed out sitting on the toilet (TMI?) and fortunately woke up my husband who had to pick me up. But when I fell i sheered off one of the very rusted bolts between the tank and the base and the tank started to leak all over the floor. Got everything flushed and turned of and cleaned up, I stayed up just in case and then slept the rest of the day. My son got two more bolts and fixed everything up. The other bolt was so rusted that he had to grind it out. But that means that all those Christmas things that had to get done yesterday will all be shoved into today.

Oh and when I fell strained my neck and I bruised the side of my eye and I have an eye doctors appt. this morning So I wonder if she will believe my story?

I am feeling much better today and I hope that all of you who are under the weather will be feeling better by Christmas as well.

Best wishes to you all for a happy and uneventful holiday weekend.

ETA - We have used GE appliances (stove and fridge) for 40 years with no problems. We only bought new ones when we moved and when we did a kitchen reno. Our new build will have a GE Cafe induction but we did change out the fridge to a Fisher Paykel because the GE Cafe fridge seems to have gone down a bit in quality.

After mine cools off, I spray with diluted Dawn in a spray bottle I keep on the sink. Just a little, and then wipe with a dish cloth, then rinse cloth, and wipe soap off. It saves using the Weimans, which is great.

I liked my coils and pans, but I just tossed them when they got too bad. So, this stove, which you really need to wipe after using, stays looking better all the time. It is also much more responsive to temperature changes up or down.

I still do not pull hot pans out of the oven and put on the cold glass top the way I dumped them on the coils.

It does not have convection or air fry, which I did not want and do not miss. It does have self clean, but I do not use. I used it only once with my previous stove and did not like.

I second nina's suggestion of Accused: Guilty or Innocent. I'm almost caught up. I have four or five episodes in Season 4. Been watching Season 5 as they come out.

I'm still trying to get out of bed. All the nice snuggly covers and the fluffy kitty make it hard. I've made three of the four dishes for New Year's Eve with the siblings, turkey pot pie, gumbo, and chicken tortilla soup.

I'm getting ready to deep clean the house for my biological siblings who will be here on Monday. Guess that's why I can't get out of bed, because I need to go to the dump. It's nice not to do any more dishes, since that's all done. On Christmas morning I'll have to heat things up, but not as many dishes as turkey pot pie, for instance.

It is a beautiful day, so I might actually work in the garden?! Yanking weeds and tossing seeds. It's also a good time of year to get out there and clean up the edges.

blfenton, I missed your comments. Last Thursday I was wearing fuzzy socks with slippery soles and fell on the tile. I have a gash on my forehead and two black eyes. Well, one and a half black eyes. So we're sisters in injuries. Everything turned out okay for me, so I hope it's going to turn out okay for you. I will tell you, the bones around the eye socket are very delicate. Take good care of them

At our old house, our stove died and for YEARS, I cooked with a 2 burner hot plate and a toaster oven. We did not replace the stove until we moved into our new house, do not know why. I guess I just made it work. Now, I always have backups to cook. In addition to the pink air fryer and toaster oven, I have an electric skillet and electric griddle (both in a beautiful shade of pink, to match everything else) just in case the stove dies and I cant replace it right away, or more likely, delivery is delayed as is was for the fridge. They are both still in the box. But I like having them, just in case. I find takeout less and less desirable now, and do not remember the last time I went through a drive through. I just feel so much better eating home made food, I cannot imagine going for a week or more eating nothing but takeout. And SO will almost NEVER eat food that is not homemade. He thinks everyone that is not me is "nasty" about cleanliness and food prep and hygiene. He's gotten worse over the years.

I have a glass top stove and like it fine. Its easier to clean. I can very quickly adapt to any heat source for cooking though. My parents and sister have gas stoves, which are easy to cook on, I have an electric glass top, which took a bit of adjustment because I had to learn that the burners STAY HOT for a long time after you turn them off and you have to factor that in. Same with my stove at work, which is electric with the coils, with I find fiddly to clean and wouldn't choose that for my home. If I ever have to replace the one at home, I would get another glass top.

As for my day, it's just getting started. Work work work. I MUST remember to stop by the store on my way to work tomorrow night and get the last ingredients I need to cook the finger food feast for my sister and our own Christmas feast. I need chicken and a baguette. I do NOT want to have to go to the store on Christmas Eve, after working all night, in the middle of a cooking binge. So I hope that I haven't forgotten anything. For tonight though, I am going to settle in, pick which Christmas movie to put on the projector for decoration for everyone to enjoy (either Elf or Christmas Vacation, cant decide) I play it on repeat all night, and hope I have a slow, uneventful night.
