Mulling over chocolate biscotti dipped in white chocolate

So I accidentally bought two bags of white chocolate chips and since I hardly ever bake or even use white chocolate chips, I want to use them up making a Christmas gift for a friend. I'm going to include them with a tin of hot cocoa. My thought was biscotti dipped in white chocolate. But I also have some old peppermint candies I want to use up so I'm thinking dipping in the white chocolate and then crushed peppermint might be fun. I have a more traditional round drop cookie recipe that does just that. But I'm thinking the biscotti might keep longer and also be a better dunking thing. My question is, would you add chocolate chips to the biscotti? Seems like gilding the lily to me if dipped in white chocolate, but we tend to add things to biscotti because, well, let's face it, they are dry . . . Plus I actually have some mini chocolate chips also languishing . . . Also, am I right about biscotti, would they keep longer than a drop cookie?

Here's the round recipe.
