I need to choose 5 overhead lights in my apartment and am planning to choose the same light for each room, I think. The question is about which of these two lights will give off the most light. Or, if someone has a suggestion of another option, I am all ears.

We bought the larger lights mentioned below but with only 8 ceilings, these larger lights looked like giant flying saucers, so I returned them. One of the rooms has ceilings that are 10'9", so that room might be able to support the larger light without looking crazy. Two of the rooms are about 9' x 12' (one of them has the 10'9" ceiling), two of the rooms are more like 10' x 10', and one of the rooms is more like 5' x 10'.

So, the smaller light has a larger wattage, which is interesting.

First choose LEDs if good lighting is the aim. I usually like ones you can change th bulb but the newer integrated ones seem to be pretty good I have this one in my bedroom and it is awesome foe overall light but you have to remeber ceiling lights are only one level of lighting in a space you still need table lamps maybe amix of table and floor lamps .

IMO your DR fixture can be a stand alone onw since it is the star of the DR and does not need to go with the kichen lighting . As for the choice IMO way too early to go there. There is no way to clean a 10x10 island so you need a KD ASAP not your architect or cabinets sales person but an actual independant KD. First get that done then you at least know how many fixtures in the kitchen the DR you need to know your table size and where it will be placed then the electrician can do his job.

You are right, of course. I think I was just trying to figure out something nicer. I do like the idea of white at least to blend away. Honestly I need new lighting for several areas of my house and I have paralysis trying to figure it all out. This breaking was the last straw for me. Lol

You will not find a different cover to fit and are stuck with the existing cloud type. The wiring of the fixture has nothing to do with it, it is the housing within the ceiling. You would need an electrician to install and connect either: - a new recessed lumenaire, after removing the existing housing, which requires some drywall patchwork; - a new ceiling box for a surface mount fixture, after removing the existing housing, which requires some drywall patchwork; - an LED surface mount fixture large enough to cover the existing housing (or jerry-rig a coverplate), connected via an Edison adapter ===> could be DIY then.

Bulbs are not included with the fixtures. You choose your own LED bulbs to put in.

The style of these fixtures could be considered Deco, Modern or Contemporary. Is that going to be the style of your furnishings? A fixture that's a good fit for a kichen might not be the best choice for a hallway or bedroom.

You'll be installing LED bulbs so a 100 watt bulb is only going to be 16-20 watts

My question is: why would you want to choose the same fixture for every room? They can be different and part of each room's individual decor.
