How should my countertop be cut near door molding?

My countertop's front corner meets my closet door's molding. The countertop installer cut the molding to accommodate the front corner. I think the molding should've been left continuous and a square notch should've been cut at the countertop corner instead.

Tiling will be installed from the molding to the back wall, so the back cut of the notch would be covered. I would also thicken the molding and possibly shift the door so the front of the molding is close to the front of the countertop.
Thanks for your feedback.
