I think that rug makes the room look smaller. Either no rug or a rug that fills the room would be my choice. I think, also, remove that table from the window area and put a little round side table (if you need one) out of sight between the chair and the window wall (okay--one for each chair, if you need it). I have these little 12" diameter tables that are perfect for putting a drink on and take up little space. I think some nice, colorful drapes/curtain panels and coordinating accent pillows on the chairs would be great. The goal would not be to COVER the windows, but to draw attention to them (they are great windows!). It sounds like your goal is to be able to seat a bunch of folks for gatherings in the that room or not? What is the main goal of the room?

Due to the current times, unfortunately, we no longer entertain. We occasionally have one other couple over. In those times the living room is used for hanging out and chatting while the kiddos play nearby. My husband and I finish our day on the sectional, whether to chat, read, or snuggle and watch TV. Like I mentioned, the ottoman is used for all of our board game storage. We don’t eat or drink in the living room since that’s done just two feet over either at the counter or dining room. I do use the tray on the ottoman for a glass of water. The open space next to the rug is widely used for playing: race tracks, dancing, coloring, etc. I do homeschool and all work is either done at the sectional or the counter. The space does feel a bit unbalanced like I had mentioned simply because we have a square sectional and a rectangular rug and ottoman. I didn’t center the rug since the print felt a bit off when done that way. Sorry for the long answer 😅 maybe I’m overthinking it?

@Patricia Colwell I'd like 4 to 5 seats in the living room. The garage is on the other side of the fire door. The walls next to the window are each around 5.5 feet - the window is 6 feet across. The entry door is where it is because it's only place it can go based on the land. The house sits on top of a very steep hill and the entry door faces the only flat and level area - also the front of the house. I'll attach a drawing of the front of the house to give you an idea.

I think there are limited options in the space. Where the marketing plan has 2 chairs, what if you had one that looks like a ‘normal’ chair but swivels so you can face the tv? A projection TV can be a space saver too. It looks like you have a place to lounge the projector on th exterior wall across from the marketing tv. The person on the sofa could sit longways to watch. We had a similar set up once and it didn’t feel too sideways.
