Seeking advice on LR layout (TV/fireplace dilemma)- help please!
Comments (22)I think the sectional is just too bulky for the room.. would it be that bad to leave the TV over the fireplace? what are the actual room dimensions? If you hang the tv on the short wall you need to have a way to watch without straining your neck.. what is the width of the room from fireplace (with the hearth) to the wall? option 1 - get rid of the sectional (yes it is comfy but bulky) and put a sofa facing fireplace, get 2 swivel chairs (recliners or not) to either face the tv on short wall or swing around and face the 'people' sitting on the sofa and a narrow ottoman for additional seating.. sketch the room on grid paper with as exact dimensions as you can.. option 2 - leave the TV above the fireplace but i would still replace the sectional with a sofa and chairs so you have more walk through space and the ability to move the chairs if you need to....See MoreBoring empty TV wall needs help
Comments (27)It's a lovely room with lots of potential. I would paint the TV wall in a calm, deep accent color. Like a subtle taupe gray to compliment the fireplace and the couch. Add a long console table under the tv in a warm wood tone. (Tall enough to hide wires and give a focal point and wide enough to add thin accent lamps or tall candle sticks or vases.) Move the plant to the left corner. Center the wine rack on its current wall on the section away from the cut out. Find a unique mirror to hang over the wine rack to add depth to the room. (Like a window would.) Find matching pieces of large artwork and hang on either side of the TV - spaced just a few inches past the corners of the large console.. You can place the lamp to the left of the wine rack for added light in that space. A warm wood tone mantle will also add warmth to your room. Good luck! I hope you show us what you did when you're done!...See MoreDesign help in tv wall building for living room
Comments (6)Hi it's my first time here so please excuse any possible mistake in creating this discussion. After building this wall in my living, we found that the stairs side is not straight vertically, the reason why you can notice in it's bottom it's getting closer to the living room. The easiest solution I thought about was to build the wall until the end of its intersection with the ceiling.. but I am still trying to find any alternative to decrease at least the length of the needed extension so I thought about these options- extending the upper part of the wall more than the rest of it, maybe adding one or two shelves in the lateral will make it look more symmetric- hiding the shape with tv wood decoration ideas- extend the ceiling to bottom (like an arche) on the entrance to the living to connect the pillar and this wallPlease help if you have any good idea..Thank youI will post photos in comments if this will be possible...See MorePlease help with this TV wall...
Comments (25)I have a question. How would you arrange this room if you didn't have a tv in it? The sectional will always be off center because of the walkway. The way you have it now looks good in photos, but does it feel closed off to you in real life? Right now you have to walk to the end of the room to get into the room. Unless you mostly enter it from the dining room. How often do you watch tv? If the tv were on the wall, would people always be walking in front of it during normal viewing hours? As I said, I generally do not like tv's placed in a walkway, but it might not be an issue in this case. When off, it would look like art. Then you can decorate over the sofa wall and keep the fireplace as the focal point. Either way, I think side tables with lamps would cozy the place up....See MoreSusan L
