Is there anyone here who would like to recommend their favourite jigsaw puzzle companies/manufacturers? I just got a new puzzle board, so I'm looking for more puzzles, but I want to be sure to buy some that are well made, with pieces that don't shred or bend, fit together well, and with pictures that are accurately reflected in the puzzle itself.

Ravensburger, Buffalo, Pomegranate, Springbok, Bits and Pieces, Cobble Hill, Unidragon? Something else?

We have a lot of Charles Wysocki puzzles. Most of his puzzles are pictures of little towns, so if you like those types of puzzles you might like them.

Those sorting boxes aren't very big, so not as many pieces are viewable at once as in a larger tray or whatever. The sorting boxes could be helpful, though, and maybe they are a good gift to a jigsaw puzzler. Yeonassky--with a 2000 piece puzzle you would need a lot of sorting space! Are you the one who works without looking at the picture???? Fun--those mats look very handy. I'd only have room for one. Yellow color is helpful. lgmd--shoebox lid....brilliant. The sides aren't too high to shade the pieces near the edge. I do find with the cake pans and box lid that the sides are a little high. jkay-- paper plates another good idea, maybe the firm white ones (not slippery, not print). foggy--baking sheets would be good as well because of the low sides. sushi--cake pans, yes, are good. I found a pie pan today which might work too. Thanks everyone, Happy puzzling. I splurged and bought a $20 puzzle today, but I'm looking forward to working it and it will take me a while.

I always have a puzzle going on a big table in the den. I only do 1000 or 1500 piece puzzles, and I'm a fan of WASGIJ puzzles and the ones by Jan van Hasteren with lots of cartoon people in them. What is your device of choice to play puzzles? I do mine on iPad because it's so much easier, and I use a stylus. IMO, the best app is "Jigsaw HD." I've tried many apps and none come close to this one. I stumbled upon this video of the app because I wanted to show you the accurate pictures of some of the puzzles. FF to 1:53 when he actually begins. You'll see the main menu page and when you click on a picture you'll get a lot more pics in that category. Those are the free puzzles. You have to pay for other groupings of puzzles under "more puzzles." I'm addicted to puzzles of European cities, Croatia, Switzerland, and a lot more. Except I had to pay for those. Anywhere from $1.99 to $3.99 Moving a piece is smooth and that makes a difference.

Hearty second for the these mosaic puzzles. I've ordered them as gifts with great feedback from recipients. We trade them aroung the neighborhood now, too. You can re-order the same puzzle, and it will come with a different cut, so you can enjoy it again. Expensive compared to cardboard, but so satisfying, and can be assembled multiiple time without damage.

Springbok is my personal fave, and I prefer the vintage ones to most of the designs today. Their pieces lock and don't come apart easily.

And I recently discovered another vintage puzzle from RoseArt - Hometown Collections. I found a bunch at a local thrift shop and really enjoyed doing them. The images are folkart-ish and cozy, and they were not too hard either.

Not sure if they're making new ones, but I often see vintage jigsaws on eBay, and I see them listed on the big A as well.

Thanks for this thread! It reminded me that I wanted to buy a jigsaw puzzle for my daughter, but knew nothing about the various manufacturers. Happy to say I just ordered "The Cosy Shed," by Ravensburger.

For years now, I've been buying (too many) puzzles from Puzzle Warehouse. Great selection, good service. During the pandemic, they could get my favorite comic Heye and Jumbo puzzles from Europe, but no one had them. The company did their best during the hardship and then came back well. There is a loyalty program and free shipping for orders over $75, so I stock up when I order..

Just realized Charles Wysocki is a.k.a. 'Heronim' - who is credited with those Hometown Collection puzzles. I really, really like his art for jigsaws - and I usually prefer photos to paintings.

Well, I ordered 1 from The Occurrence, 1 from the New York Puzzle Company, and 1 from Pomegranate. We'll see how they go. I'm really slow at doing them, but I enjoy them.
