What color should I paint my kitchen cabinets?

Our kitchen currently has Solarius granite with natural maple cabinets. When we bought the house 2 years ago, we painted the walls with SW agreeable gray at 50%. We recently had new wide plank LVF installed. I am not in a position to complete a kitchen model but I have decided to paint the cabinets. I am looking for a paint color that would compliment the wall color and the granite. Thank you for your feedback.

Comments (11)Why don't you consider a nice green color with a bit of a glaze for your cabinets? I did the cream with heavy glaze in my kitchen (your top link is my kitchen!) and I love them, but I never considered any other color and now that I've seen some green glazed cabinets - I think about redoing my island in green!!! (Its black now with the perimeter in glazed cream.) Green cabs would stand out nicely against your walls. There is a forum member here named Teppy and I'm attaching a link to her photobucket. She has a some inspiration photos on there with distressed green islands and they are gorgeous, as well as her own green island. Comments (0)We are remodeling our kitchen. Our kitchen flows right off the family room (step down family room). We are going with mid-tone wood cabinets, the flooring is an engineered hardwood in a rich cherry kind of color, with black granite counter tops (Black Pearl). The paint on the family room wall is Smokestack by Behr (kind of a taupy gray). I have no idea what color to use in the kitchen! I typically don't like just white. I was contemplating going 1 color down on the chip from Smokestack, but I don't know if the difference is enough. Two steps down gives me what seem to almost be white. Any general tips for how to decide paint colors when you want to change it from room to room (but the two rooms flow together)? There is a natural divider in the room, so we can switch colors (the ceiling will be the same all the way across both rooms - Polar White by Behr). I'm starting to think maybe I should just keep the same color all the way across, as I really do like the Smokestack. It isn't as dark as it appears in my pic of the family room, we didn't have very good lighting. Comments (6)The cabinets look to be in very good condition. I wouldnt be painting them. I would be buying accessories in some colors and maybe an area rug on the table, and get some pretty curtains, or some type of window treatment to give it a personality. Comments (2)Either leave them as they are, or use the White Dove color. If you try to paint them gray, they won't work with your floors, back splash, or wall color. White Dove will work without having to change anything else. Are you also planning to paint your window trim? You might consider just painting the uppers in White Dove if you're trying to lighten the space....See More
