Those are great options. I have seen some posts where glaze can be difficult to diy.

Also, a lot of the kitchen mags and hot designers are using gray and gray/green these days. Martha did that in her latest rehab. Can't really tell if that would work for you. Just a suggestion to consider.

If you do the cream, IMHO you should look at the option of a deeper tone on the walls to make them pop.

If you can figure out if you tend toward cool neutrals colors or warm, we can help you decide what works best for you. BTW love the wall in the eating area.

I have seen some great yellow cabinets on the Cottage Living website.

It's my favorite, and the reason that I now have the urge to paint just about everything I see. Be sure to look at the before and afters of her own kitchen to see what some trim and a little black paint can do to oak cabinets. Get a napkin, though, because I guarantee you're gonna drool.

Why don't you consider a nice green color with a bit of a glaze for your cabinets? I did the cream with heavy glaze in my kitchen (your top link is my kitchen!) and I love them, but I never considered any other color and now that I've seen some green glazed cabinets - I think about redoing my island in green!!! (Its black now with the perimeter in glazed cream.)

Green cabs would stand out nicely against your walls.

There is a forum member here named Teppy and I'm attaching a link to her photobucket. She has a some inspiration photos on there with distressed green islands and they are gorgeous, as well as her own green island.

I wanted to show you the photo of my kitchen before I painted the walls. I did the antiqued white cabs (your top link) but I had light wallpaper on the walls and the cabs just blended in with it too much. So after much distress, I painted the walls a medium shade of green (BM Northhampton Putty) so the cabs would pop against the green. I'm showing you the before photo with wallpaper and the after. That might help you with wondering what the cream cabs look like against lighter walls.

This is the desk side of my kitchen which has more wall space so you can see more of the walls with the cabs.

Thanks guys! I actually had thought of green or even a tuscan gold, but I was afraid I'd get tired of them in a few years? I don't know... If I painted the walls in the kitchen, it would have to carry over to the family room, and I think that would be too much. For the cabinets- What do you guys think of a light gold, with brown glaze and accents...or do you think green would be better? I know the cream would just blend in too much.

Does anyone have some pictures of green or gold cabinets? Thanks!

I love Downsy's kitchen cabinets -- just what I would suggest. Off white with a nice bit of texture to them. Here's a link that goes into the ins and outs of painting the cabinets. I am still getting up the nerve to try it myself. (and trying to find the time!)
