What did I buy?

I eat a lot of whole grains and occasionally use barley instead of farro, always hulled barley--not pearled. I can no longer find it at my Kroger--that's a whole other rant--so I ordered some on line from Vitacost: Shiloh Farms organic "Hulless Barley." OK, in my book "hulless" means without hulls-- as in flourless chocolate cake, no flour; thornless blackberries, no thorns. Hullless barley should be the same as hulled barley, right?

But what arrived does not look like any barley I've ever used before. It's dark--the hulls?--and the advised cooking time is very long--1 1/2 hrs--and overnight soaking is advised.

So, hullless barley means it has hulls? Huh?

Yesterday I phoned the consumer hot line and asked someone to call me back, but I'm still waiting.
