Comments (64)I like what you did with the matchstick blinds and curtains, better than the roman shades. I wouldn't order those blinds if the shipping is high (I had bamboo ones in my old apartment that I bought at target for decently cheap). Not sure how to post links, as I'm to all this but try these: http://www.target.com/Bamboo-Roman-Shade-Spice/dp/B000KUCEI6/ref=br_1_5?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=15751241&node=15751241&searchRank=salesrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=Bamboo%20Roman%20Shade%20Spice My one suggestion would be use a more colorful curtain than the white long ones. It makes the room look modern, but a bit to stark and plain. Maybe even just white with a delicate print? Maybe like these from ikea.. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00135551 or these from target http://www.target.com/Home-Damask-Window-Collection/dp/B001J215Y8/ref=br_1_1?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=596480011&node=596480011&searchRank=salesrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=Home%20Damask%20Window%20Collection (and they're on clearance for super cheap!) As for paint colors, I'm sorry I'm no help. I'm having a mini breakdown trying to decide on a palette for my house as well.. Good luck! And happy decorating! Comments (32)J- Okay, that Avantium is cool! I can see why you want to get one for your new kitchen :) What about a refrigerator drawer, or even two? You could put it/them under the dish storage (one possibility) where they would be really close to the sink and the stove. This would give you a place to put the smaller items, while leaving plenty of space for big items, water, pop, etc. in the big fridge. I've thought about this myself a few times, with some of my layouts, but I've been gravitating to a smaller kitchen lately (shocking, I know LOL) but fridge drawers are a great way to keep a few items handy, without the big fridge right in the work area. If you had veggies, butter or margerine, some cheese, cream or milk, etc. that would be a lot of the items (at least a lot of mine) that I run back and forth grabbing, while I'm also trying to stir a sauce or wash something at the sink. Your landing space by the fridge (first plan) seems fine, for the occasional item and usually I get the big ingredients from the pantry and fridge before I start a meal. What do you think? As for you back, totally been there...after lifting too much hay for horses a few years back. Another good reason to think about dish washer drawers, too :) I think the stove on the back wall could make an incredible focal point. What are you thinking about for stove/cooktop? What style are you leaning towards? I know the plan is the first step, but what are you ideas for the room? Love to know details on your design...the plan is so important for function, but the design...that's the fun part!...See MoreBefore & After (with a designer) but I still need your help.
Comments (303)Thank you, everyone. I would thank you all individually but that would take forever. Just know that I am truly grateful. I do need some gray, some brass, maybe some touch of black - not ready to shop openly yet. I love the idea of removing shelves. I'm going to study the emilyhenderson styling attachment. The ottoman is a match to the chairs, and although I didn't care for chairs because they'll be dated 2020 (long story) when the job just about completed right before heart of Covid, I ordered a second ottoman because I only had one for one of the "reading" chairs (lol). I thought it would make sense to have both chairs have an ottoman in next home (indoor porch chairs maybe, with ottoman? or sell them?). That second ottoman finally arrives this Friday; have no idea where I'll put it, and it's definitely gray. So ottomanS are staying in this room, in this house. I can't even imagine the stress I would have trying to now change out ottomans. Wallpaper was stressful enough and i admit knowing the room is now conflicting slightly. Honestly, I'm just going to live with this now. Changing the color of a room after you hired a designer is no easy task for a non-professional if you don't want to change out the essence of what you paid designer for. Somehow, I now have what I wanted, a blue room. I recognize the issues, the lack cohesiveness, but it's a room that I have decided to now live with....See MoreCarly
