More before/after but it needs help and doesn't look right..
Comments (8)This is a difficult question to answer, Think jigsaw puzzle, when we did our rockwork, we laid the largest flat pieces on the bottom, then as we built up we kept trying pieces one at a time until they fit and looked right to us. Sometimes we had to add some dirt to make the rocks fit to our liking. Each row we did was slightly back from the one below and they were all staggered so the gaps didn't line up and no real jutty pieces were sticking out over the row below. It was slow work for us as we had never done this before. The same thing when we built our little waterfall for the Koi pool, I mean puddle, it was a struggle, I kept saying it doesn't look right, DH got annoyed and left in a huff, I kept at it until I was happy with it. All this is probably as clear as mud. LOL Back to what I first said think jigsaw puzzle. Take your time, you will get it just the way you want it. I know you can do it. By the way you've got some cool rock there. A.........See More91% finished kitchen - but I still need your help!
Comments (30)THanks again for more suggestions...you are all the best! Jeri: The white on the cabinets is very similar to BM Cloud White. There are lots of great threads on here about whites - if I were to do it all over again I probably would have gone a tiny bit creamier, probably BM Mayonnaise. ginabmg - my island is 34" x 70". THere is about 35" clearance btween the fridge and the granite edge, and 39" between the cabinet and the granite edge. This is because the fridge sticks out a little bit even though it is "cabinet depth". Between sink and granite edge, it's about 36". These distances are a little bit tighter than ideal, but because of our island layout, the cabint guy couldn't really shrink it any more. We have our trash in our island (which I LOVE!!!) and we needed the space for that. I really really do love our island - it's my favorite aspect of our kitchen! Redroze - thanks for chiming in, I LOVE your kitchen!! I almost got bianco antico (had slabs on reserve!), but instead we went with Colonial Dream (which is the same as Colonial Gold I think). The PB chandeleir you posted is the exact one we are thinking of getting, so it must be a sign! Regarding the baskets.... I do want to get 4 of the same. I was just trying out a few. And now I went back to Homegoods and I can't get more of them. Oh well, they were cheap (like $6?) so I'm probably back to the drawing board anyway. vanisleevt - I'm excited to see how your pendants turn out. I'll make sure to post pics of mine too!...See MoreLiving Room: Need help! Before/After pictures inc.
Comments (9)awm-- I agree. My dream rug would be a faded hooked rug. But, the reality is, the one I have is a thick wool rug that is comfortable and withstands my children-- and I paid $60 for it. (Sadly, that gives you an idea about my budget.) I don't know what I could get that would be cheap and functionally as good, esp. with my young children. kjmama and Sinky-G: ITA about the contrast. I posted so many things above that it was easy to miss, but there WILL be curtains (green ones, with a vintage pattern) on the picture window. I have the fabric, but need to learn how to sew them! I was hoping it would help with the contrast-- while I keep hearing that you should match the wall (or even keep WTs lighter) I had a feeling the sofas would look way too heavy that way, which is why I opted for darker. kjmama: My DH liked the gold, too, but mostly because he didn't want to repaint and/or spend the money on paint. I hated it after about a year-- it was not "easy on the eyes" to live with it day in and out. Stinky Gardener: I might have enough fabric to do a valance with the green fabric on that small window. If not, maybe a patterned lampshade would help? I'm glad the black toile sounds OK . . .was not sure if it would look too busy. If you have any suggestions on art and where to hang the art, I am all ears! Love the cream throw idea . . .that might help lighten up the couch a bit. Keep the suggestions coming! It is great to be able to "see" this room I have been working on for so long with new eyes!...See MoreBeddings still dirty after many washes. Help/advice needed.
Comments (43)I'm assuming you're a college student with no sex life - or perhaps you're hoping for some and realize that bedding has GOT to be washed! You talk about how you washed the down comforters and pillows and that they still smell. You have not mentioned how you dried them. Are you putting them through just one or two cycles of the dryer? If that is the case, what you are smelling is the fact that they didn't get dry and have "soured" - it smells something like sour milk. It can take multiple HOURS for a down comforter or pillow to dry! If you're using a laundromat, take plenty of change and a VERY engrossing book! Or you could just spend the money and take them to a cleaners and let them do all this for you. In the future, I highly recommend a duvet cover, pillow protector and cases. Anything else, is...well...frank, disgusting. Yes, I HAVE had a son and have 3 grandsons.......See MoreRelated Professionals
