Comments (11)Maire_cate - I think my wife is adjusting OK. She babysits our grandson Jimmy at his parents house, usually 5 days a week. I'm trying to help out - I normally do laundry during the day, except those few items that require more TLC than I'm prepared to put out. Jeans & towels, no problem! Also we were having people over for the holidays and I took it upon myself to defrost 2 refrigerator freezers. Also I clean up any dirty dishes that might be around. I don't like to be told what to do, but if I decide to do things on my own it works out. I think my wife's caught on; she doesn't want to kill the golden goose :)...See MoreI haven't seen Snidely in a while, or Old Fixer in a Long Time!
Comments (21)Report of prostate biopsy due in a couple of days. Daughter called on Easter morning - the best Easter present. When I suggested that if I got bad news at the biopsy report ... that I'd have a great deal of work dealing with the messy house ... ... and she laughed: said that most folks, informed of limited life expectancy, would be talking of travel ... visiting family, etc., etc. ... ... and with Dad ... it was dealing with messy house, not leaving it for survivors to cope with! Which reminds me ... I've thought for some time that one of the things that I must add to the "Last wishes" folder ... ... is to write down Gardenweb's address, so son can inform folk here of Dad's mouth being closed ... finally! Fingers no longer keyboarding. ole joyfuelled ... who figures that life should be taken seriously at times ... and not too, at times ... P.S .... but one thing's for sure: no one's gonna survive it ... ... what's that you say: that they're figuring ways for folks to live pretty well forever? No kidding! That'll mean - no more kids ... no more grandkids! (of which I have none: end of the line for my branch of the family) And the world, with 7 billion or so, going on 10 ... will become so heavy ... that it'll fall out of orbit, for sure! o j...See MoreHi again, haven't posted in a while.
Comments (35)Oh no, (blush) I have LOTS of long needles upstairs in my sewing room. Why didn't I think of that? Oh my,,,thanks for the reminder !!!!! This is the mix I use: equal parts Miracle Grow and Perlite. And I find it works pretty good, so I don't think it is the mix. I just think it is that darn algae that starts the process. Although I can't account for the drying of the wicks. Now that confounds me. Weird. I am going to start replacing the wicks as soon as I go UPSTAIRS and get my looooong needle. lol. Thanks for THAT reminder !!!! Perle, you should have seen me trying to soap my one hand to gently "wash" the wick hanging out of the pot! And then rinsing it. But that doesn't get the algae off. I though it would be ok,,,,but nope. Not so much. And I usually managed to pull the wick almost, if not all the way out anyway! sigh,,,a real exercise in futility !!!! Rosie...See More- 2 years ago
