I'm never going to find a house! I'm too picky.
Comments (22)Hello, been lurking a bit. Lots of good info here, thanks. FWIW, I agree that if the things you can't change are right and there is room in the price to do the rest ... thats a pretty good place to be. I knew the minute we walked into our current home, it would be ours, more than 20 yrs. ago. We had looked at a few dozen as I recall but the search was over when we got here. Since then we've added several investment props to the pile and since last fall have been looking for a new joint for us. Found an REO that is the only house of hundreds that can tick off every item on our list. Trying to convince the bank that they should stop holding on to it has been frustraiting, aggravating, stressfull etc. but now it is finally fun. They are offering counters in less than 24 hrs. and moving proposed closing dates up. Still not moving as much in price as they'll need to yet but it is vast improvement. Guess submitting the roofing bid and the well test did the trick :-) It kinda feels like I'm the lone bidder. Its got great bones and for us, a great loc. (acerage close to where we need to be). Its way more than we need but the lot, loc. and subdivision are pretty near perfect. Some minor damage from the eviction but I'm pricing that in and will order the full blown insp. once we have a deal. I was at the auction, I know the number ... they might get it but I'm thinkin not. There is a lot of inventory out there....See MoreA long read for Halloween ... (David Sedaris)
Comments (14)Even before Jen posted this, I was telling my husband about hearing it and being sad that I missed seeing Sedaris in my backyard. Then he suggested maybe we could do a road trip to catch another performance. He was probably thinking a place like D.C. I said well, I have checked the schedule and he'll be in Australia in January. I may have overplayed my hand. I think I'll recheck the schedule and see if there's a city - with a sports team - that we haven't visited and see about a weekend away. Unfortunately, we've already been to Dallas but I suppose we could repeat, we had a nice time....See MoreTricky living room angle (City apartment)
Comments (2)That is a quirky layout, but fun. If it were me I’d get a couple of simple stools for the kitchen bar, like wood with rush seats, so that I could sit there when it’s just me, or provide a perch for a friend to have a glass of wine while I’m cooking. And I would get a small round glass topped dining table, or the white tulip table from Ikea, to put in front of the window so I could see outside while dining or enjoy more light while working on my laptop. Once you have that in place you could figure out the sizes of your upholstered furniture, think multiuse, nesting tables, ottoman with storage, swivel chairs. And a large mirror on that wall where they had the tv, near the window, will bounce more light into the room....See MoreCity Loft SW for living room, what color for adjacent kitchen?
Comments (6)It depends what other materials are in the kitchen such as the colors of the cabinets and the counters. I like the Snowbound for the kitchen walls. Then if you want some excitement in your kitchen, you can paint the island that Connor's Lakefront. The City Loft will go with lots of different countertops, so it is a good choice for trim in the kitchen. If your kitchen cabinets are to be painted, I would paint them the Snowbound, because since you don't get much light, the City Loft would read as too dark in there....See MoreLynnNM
