Is too much of a good thing just *too* much? (Rug Question)
Comments (3)On the contrary, I think it's an excellent choice. Now all the rugs tie in together, even though they're all a different pattern....See MoreRug too cool colored for family room?
Comments (2)Several considerations are how much natural light you get in this room, what direction your house faces, and what kind of lighting you have in here. Usually the morning sun is the strongest. My living room faces west, and I get very little afternoon sun. If I ever get another residence, I'd get one that faces east, because I love the morning sun coming into the living room. If you have plenty of light in this room, this room is ok, but it may need a lot of punches of ONE bright OR ONE pastel color, if that's your style. If you want to keep this monochromatic, punch it up with lots of texture and pattern. Put in top search box following phrases for ideas: monochromatic living room in photos Color living room in photos I like color, but that's me. FYI I'm the color police (!) so here is a breakdown of warm and cool colors (some may not make any sense, but I had my colors done 20 years ago and this is what they said - I'm a winter and cool colors look best on me): Cool colors: white, taupe, ice cool pastels, royal blue, teal, forest green, Kelly green, navy, black, fuchsia, burgundy, gray. Warm colors: Brown, off-white, tan, beige, cream, peach, olive green, golden yellow, rust, orange....See MoreIs this braided rug too country for a contemporary kitchen?
Comments (27)We have hardwood floors in our kitchen, dining, and living areas. We have a runner in front of the sink/stove area and a Persian in the dining room and another in the living room. We have never tripped over any of these rugs, not even so much as stumbled a little bit over them. They aren't gross, but we don't feed a gang of food-spewing toddlers daily either, so YMMV. We do have cats, and as cats are prone to do, sometimes they hork on a rug. Big deal -- wipe it up and call it a day. The "rug in a kitchen naysayers" hold their opinions pretty strongly, but if you want rugs in your eating areas, there's no reason not to have them....See MoreRug - One's too small, next too large; what would u do? Comments (2)another idea is to bind a piece of carpet - that way you can choose the size and shape....See Moremytwo cents
