Comments (13)I also think how "country" it reads depends on what you pair one up with. I have one in my den that I bought 3 years ago and I love it there. I have a fetish for all sorts of oriental rugs, but in that room, a braided rug felt right. The decor is a bit country (I call it my folk-art inspired room) but not the stenciled ducks and ruffled curtains variety! Goodness, at least I hope it comes across a tad more sophisticated than that. Anyway, I think braided rugs look great with simple pieces, furniture that has clean lines, and also as a "palate cleanser" between oriental rugs throughout the house!...See MoreAre Braided Rugs Slippery???
Comments (5)I had the same thing happen to me! I have brick floors in my kitchen and had three braided rugs on mine, too. I'd gotten them at Target and loved the colors. Not only did they shrink in the washer, but the dye ran and they took on a definite deep pink color! And, I'd washed them in cold water and dried them on extra low in my dryer! They did slip a bit, but more than that, DH was always complaining that that they were tripping hazards. At the present time, my kitchen is rugless, because I think kitchen rugs need to be washed and I haven't found some that are sturdy, washable, non-tripping hazards . . . and good looking. Personally, I can't imagine feeling comfortable with kitchen rugs I couldn't wash. If there's one place in my house that I want to keep very clean, it's my kitchen! Comments (15)I'd just say beautiful!! Great job!! Your kitchen reminds me of my new master bath I'm putting together. Long time ago I saw some gorgeous light fixtures I had to have and they are over the top beautiful crystal and nickle and modern. I spent so much on lighting fixtures that wnen it came time for the cabinets/vanities I tried to find a way to save money. So I opted for some inexpensive, yet very nice vanities that are more of an antique style. Then we come to the flooring and shower. Well, the shower is now going to be glass block, which I believe is pretty generic when it comes to style, and the flooring is porcelain tile in a beige stone look. The walls are a gray/green/blue. So I'm holding my breath waiting to see what all these different elements look like when they are all in place in the same room. If nothing else, I'll just tell people it's shabby/chic!! My poor DH who doesn't know that much about interior design keeps reassuring me it will all look beautiful. I do so want to believe him!! That's what I'm going on right now and hoping for the best. Your kitchen is fabulous!!...See MoreNeed help changing cream tuscan kitchen to white contemporary kitchen
Comments (20)I agree with the vent hood and lighting changes. A glass pendant in green or aqua lighting could look good. As far as seating, I always liked the Tig Countertop seats from Crate & Barrel when I had them in my last home. They are contemporary and sleek. And far more comfortable than they looks. But they wouldn't go with the french look of your dining area. I assume you plan to change out those chairs as well? If you like coastal looks, sea grass or a light natural/driftwood color is a good option too. If you are looking for light and bright I think you would need to paint the island. I would also get lighter drawer/cabinet pulls. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/tig-metal-counter-stool/s642141 https://www.ballarddesigns.com/jo-jo-pendant/lighting/indoor-lighting/pendants/444240?listIndex=5 https://www.overstock.com/Lighting-Ceiling-Fans/Belinda-Blue-Glass-Cluster-Pendant-Chandelier-Antique-Black-Finish/16001564/product.html...See Morejillybean103
