brick barrier for water infiltration

I have a converted brick garage, where there is now a simple paneled/drywall wall facing a driveway. The driveway slopes down to the wall, and in a big rainstorm I can get puddling against the wall, which seeps through. I'd like to shield the wall from that puddling. I envision a double layer of brick. That would be easily a high enough puddle shield. But brickwork is somewhat water permeable. What's the correct strategy to build such a shield that would keep water away from that wall? Do I do it in brick, but then just put sealer on the brick? I guess I could also put a line of 8" tile along the bottom of the wall, but might get seepage through the grout.
