ULU, the traditional Alaskan kitchen/cooking knife. We saw them everywhere on our recent trip there. For sale, it seems, in every store from Fairbanks to Denali to Anchorage. To me, they look very similar to my Mezzaluna, although many were much more decorated.

I guess this is representative of why I bought our home and makes me smile? It has many original features and had a nice warmth to it. I had to track down this toilet and sink and the legs (there was a plain white toilet before and cheap particle board vanity that was water damaged). I got lucky there was the original tile under the vanity. I need to finish decorating and puting up my hall mack accessories in here. There is still a long way to go, lots of undoing remuddling around the house, and work in the other bathrooms and kitchen (they need full renos because of the layouts).

These kiddos make us so happy. Oldest DGD who was home from grad school with great nieces and great nephew at our house for Christmas Eve breakfast. We had lots of celebrating over the holidays with family members and enjoyed every minute.

Really, it's the mezzaluna that looks similar to the ulu, which is thousands of years older, LOL. I brought an ulu back from an Alaskan trip; they are really best with a curved cutting surface like the one I bought at the same time. Now, finding chopping blocks with a matching concave surface is harder.

Underground job.....

I had a 1980's oil tank removed a few months ago after we switched to a heat pump. We're on well water here and a previous owner didn't care if the well was just 20 ft away. Thankfully all soil tests were negative for leaks.
