Termite tenting
Comments (6)g'day kathy, for me i would think they can't pump it all out, and your neighbours might be careful not to close all windows while they are in the house for quiet sometime after fumigation. if as kim says the termites are already infested the house then your neighbour might need to carry out repairs? my guess is they are going overboard a bit, there are lots of homes out there protected by a simple chemical barrier in the ground or on cement slab where it can be noted if termites try to enter (in our case) then no chemicals at all required. for you hope the wind blows in another direction the day they left the tent, though it may not do much against you the smell might be bad enough. when we have needed to we tend to look for pest control blokes who exercise common sense not the ones that run around in fancy painted vehicles, wearing eco' green/khaki clothes sprouting big talk. len...See Moretenting the house, what do I dig up?
Comments (7)I know I will have to do this at some point and I am dreading it. I know there are methods now where they don't have to tent. I'm hoping that will be effective for me as I stuff planted ALL around the house including some palms that will likely have to be cut down :( On a small lot, you can't help planting around the house. I was told at one point I would have to remove my satellite dish, my fence that butts up to the house and all plants I didn't want fried. That was 2 yrs ago but I know I am biding my time. I haven't seen termite wings this last year though thankfully (I know, I know...they are doing their damage behinds the scenes LOL)...See MorePreparing plants for Drywood Termite Tenting

Comments (2)The tenting was done 1 1/2 weeks ago and luckily we only lost a couple of plants, and a few others look like they will survive. I ended up planting too many plants too close to the house. Since my first posting I potted up a bunch of the uncommon plants that were within a foot or so from the house, and planted most of them back into the garden, but farther from the house this time. All my plants now are in a much safer distance from the house, and I even gave a few away. By the way, I had a minor amount of drywood termites coming in one area of the house and didn't want them to become a problem. It was done by a large national company that has a guarantee that is lifetime and kept up with a once yearly renewal....See MoreFun2BHere
