Bar ideas for basement

Looking to get some ideas on a dry bar idea. I collect Bourbon and i want some shelves about some cabinets. Having a mixed decision on what color countertops and what Kind of shelves i want. Feedback would be appreciated.

I'd get shelves you can paint to match the color of your wall. That will allow the shelves to disappear and your burbon to be the real focus of the wall. I'd go for grey counters too.

I noticed your fridge looks like a free standing mini-beverage fridge, rather than an expensive built-in, under the counter beverage fridge. Am I correct? If so, a mini-fridge - like the kind you get for a dorm or office has required clearances for air circulation on the back and sides. Check out the installation guide for your appliance. It is often 4-5" on each side and the back.

Take this seriously. I just did the same thing earlier this year and the fridge died within two months. You cannot treat these units like built-ins. Built-ins are so expensive because they have special venting that comes out the front to cool the unit.

I'd consider putting your two cabinets side by side with a counter that stretches across to the right. Place your fridge on the counter on the right side with the requisite number of inches between it and the last cabinet and don't place anything against the right side of the fridge.

I built a kitchen/bar in our former basement. The caninets included upward opening doors on top and pull-out shelves in the low bar. Here is a video of the entire finished space - hopefully some helpful ideas

Oh good, this is exactly why I have returned to gardenweb -- we are still in the process; we have only about 8 ft of wall (and no opposing bar or peninsula). We chose to put in an 18" dw and an undercounter fridge/freezer (with ice maker). I wanted a single dw drawer at first, but the saleslady scared me off. I have a toaster oven that I might keep downstairs, and am not planning on buying a microwave for the space unless we absolutely need it instead. I thought a single induction burner would be great, since it doesn't get hot. Decided to forgo that because of limited counter space, and I will probably get a portable induction unit for times when we need it. We will have a full-size freezer and small wine refrigerator in a storage room, as well. Oh, and a portable icemaker. My favorite part (I hope it works) is that directly on the other side of the bar is storage where we plan to install a keg fridge and will tap it through the wall over the bar sink, next to the water faucet. Location might be a challenge; it will be tucked into the back corner of the room, so I'm a little worried about flow, but all things considered I think it was the best place. Look forward to seeing what others are doing/have done, and will update as we progress.

I would not do tile on that wall at all it will be too much going on on that small wallIMO penny tiles do not belong in contempoary spaces and I think stainless shelves would be nice

isn't that some sort of code violation? no egress from the basement? but to answer your question, of course white would work. So would wood or any other color. It just depends on the overall look you wish to achieve. Decent lighting will mitigate the lack of sunlight.

I have excellent news the panel is being moved out of the bar area!! So I’m giving away the upper cabinets and now trying to decide on a tiny budget what to do. We’re thinking of just leaving the brown granite and cherry color lowers for now and repair the wall and paint it a charcoalyblue in the two walls of the nook. We’ll see how that looks then add open shelves of some sort for liquor bottles and limited glassware. The flooring isn’t going to change bc we just don’t want to spend more than an arbitrary 5k here, so I’m curious if you have opinions on wall color, possssinly cabinet colors, wall treatments?
