Photo Gallery Wall
Comments (26)I think ttodd's is my favorite, too! But for me, I don't have the patience to do what she did. :) Also, I couldn't make a decision about which photos to use so I did mine to be "temporary" or easy to change out. Here's the "before" Here's the after. This pic was taken improperly with a wide angle lens so it's all kind of skewed. Of course you'll have to use your imagination to see it with your pictures but I still like the shelves. (If I were to do it again I would make the shelves a little deeper.) Here's a head-on shot that it's in proportion. AND - I found the inspiration photo! Looking at it again, I may need to frame some of mine. :)...See MorePhoto wall gallery: feedback on draft
Comments (4)I don't think you need to have the all frames match or be in the same color family. My frames are mix of styles, shapes, color and materials? I think it adds more interest. Some of your frames seem to be a bit too close together. Do you have room to spread the frames out a little bit. I agree that you might want try something larger in the middle, perhaps a frame that holds multiple photos. It would give you some weight without having to have large photos. On my photo wall I have 8 multi-picture/collage frames. Initially, I layed out my frames on my great room floor, played around with them and then recreated the arrangement on the wall but over time I have just done random free flow add on to the gallery. I like the casual, not perfect look. Here is my rendition:...See MoreWho to hire to hang photo gallery on stairway wall?
Comments (11)Who's gonna dust all of that? Change the light bulb in the fixture that lights it? As the homeowner, you need to own a ladder that can help you do all of that, and once you do own that, YOU can do the installation yourself. With a stairway and an extension ladder, you can do some simple boards for scaffolding. And then be able to do that again when you need to get up there to dust the tops and clean the glass on the art....See MoreWant to Help me Arrange a Photo Gallery Wall?
Comments (25)wendy - Great points. Since the original layouts posted above, I've been trying different things with a lot more frames. I'm getting the hang of it, I think. I won't be sticking with anything like the original layouts I posted. pammy - I will watch the height placement of the smaller frames. shee - I know what you mean about the symmetry thing. I did purchase many more frames, so that is helping, but I actually need more yet! Well, this little project has turned into a bigger project. juddgirl - Thanks for the links. Some of the frames came with matting already, which is nice, and I got a lot of the frames at 50% off (after Christmas sales). So, right now I have 17 frames, some matted, and I've spent less than $200. While I agree that having identical frames and matting makes it easier to pull everything together, I'm attracted to the more casual look of a variety of frame styles. I am sticking to the same color for them, though. I know I'm making it harder in doing it this way, but I'll figure it out somehow....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
