I brought a tiny plant from Kingadenium 3 years ago it called "Triple Splash". This summer I cut and grafted 2 scions onto another plant, and after 3 1/2 months, one opens today and few more soon to open. Tell me if it looks like the picture from Kingadenium web site. this called Double Pink Stripes. First time bloomed different than second time. Second time bloom like this.Picture took 3 days ago.

Grafting is the only way to propagate named Adenium cultivars and varieties reliably. Sometimes cuttings can be rooted but grafting is easier. Adenium obesum from seed is a crapshoot. The results are often inferior, so grafts are made from known varieties with better and known qualities such as blooming time, quantity, shape, pattern and color of the blooms.

Hi Rick - sorry, no! There must be another Roger who did that and knows Cheryl from Australia. :) All I know about Adeniums is what I've learned watching this one grow over the last 11 years and from the posts on this forum, for which I'm very grateful. Edit: You have reminded me that I once tried to grow Adeniums from seeds. But it was a total failure. :( On 16th Feb 2013 I noticed a strange growth at the end of one of the branches: It grew bigger and the two sides opened up so it was straighter. At that time (18th March 2013) I had no idea what it was: And then it exploded! (7th April): I took a close-up of one of the seeds: And eventually the wind blew them all away: I collected and kept many of the seeds and planted them in about 20 different pots of earth. Some I kept dry, some I watered a little and others a lot. But after several months there was no noticeable growth. I am curious as to why they didn't germinate and if Cheryl from Australia - or anyone - has any recommendations I would like to try again as I have kept many of the seeds.

Your thoughts on watering when dry by checking with your finger or lifting and checking by weigh is good. Would be worth searching through the Adeniim forum for additional help, but do not get yourself overwhelmed with what can happen, as there are always differencing of opinions, which are all valid. If I have a pot the has become very dry, I like to give a drink of plain water and then use the fertilizer mix w water afterwards. I use the Dyna Gro 9-3-6 and Protekt 0-0-3. With the 7-9-5 which you have, I am not sure if I would use it in conjunction with what you have. It will boost the 'P' very high, which. would be too much. Soil used can be a factor. I always water my trees until the water flushes out the bottom, but I am using a Gritty Mix. If planted in a peat or coir based mix this would make the soil very saturated. Rick
