Just from the photo, I question the seaming and construction.

Lol, Bbstx! I noticed the hemmed edge of the dress where it has the petal shaped split in the front. However However, having had a couple of Fortuny pleat scarves I know it can be difficult to get straight edge across the pleats.

Is that what you both noticed?

adding… all the reviews say the dress is generously sized. of course that doesn’t mean it will necessarily look good on anyone, but the problem wasn’t that it was snug. I am 5’7” and a medium according to Anthro sizing chart. i wish they would include the model’s height and size of the dress as modeled!

I didn’t notice the hem, I was looking more at the odd seaming on the sleeves and the whatever under the bust. Is that a ruffle? a casing for elastic? what?

It’s a small ruffle under the bust. And the sleeves are seamed that way to create their shape— another result of using pleated fabric.

Did you see this picture? I really don’t like it with low heeled shoes. And it does nothing for her bustline.

That photo alone would make me vote no. And I’m tall and fairly thin and I wouldn’t wear it it. I’m going to go to their website and look at it but I think you can do better.

I’m looking for something different. I don’t wear strapless / sleeveless (arms, and always cold) so there are limited choices of fancy dress with those parameters. ☹️

I love the color!! i think i would go and see in person and try it on. I have a little too much ”on top” to carry it off.

Those shoes have got to be 1.5 to 2 inches but the dress is too long for her Bbstx, it looks like a much larger size, therefore proportionally longer.

I know, I know… I am trying to justify going up there to try it on. Convincing myself that the dress on me will look like the first picture and not the second…

I haven't tried on this dress, but I have tried on other dresses with all-over pleats that look like this one and they feel...weird. Almost sculptural. They don't feel like clothes are supposed to feel. If this is similar, it might explain some of the reviews.

I did go to the website and look at more photos. It looks pretty from the back, and it is a great color. And if you don’t mind the neckline plunge give it a try. From reading the reviews, it runs large, so unless you are tall, maybe you need a petite size? I think it overwhelms some of the people in the photos because they are wearing a size that fits their hips, not their top.

You can always order it and return to the store if it doesn’t work.

Yes, why not just order it to try. You can mail it back for less than the gas to return it in person. It's a gorgeous color!

What a wonderful way to spend Halloween! I love the fabric, not so much the stitching on the arms, but will the velvet cape cover those? If return shipping is free or inexpensive, try it out with the cape and see how it looks.

I may just do that. I am bored and sick and tired. :(

Lucille, the place is a lovely resort/ town and their Arts Institute (funded by a mandatory assessment on all homeowners!) is hosting this first ever event. There will be a multicourse dinner at a very, very nice restaurant, the party/ mystery, and afterwards we will change into casual wear for a bonfire, smores and cocoa or warm adult beverages. Breakfast the next morning and then away. I am going with a dear friend I haven’t seen in several months. Ironically we were both in the Netherlands at the same time but DH and I were on a boat and he was in a bike trip. His schedule is very busy and we are carving out this time to carch up.

The green is so pretty, but I think the black looks like it's more flattering.

I don't like the way it "hangs". It's not flattering. I think the cute models stand out when the clothing is not attractive.

If you really like it, I see no harm in ordering it and trying it on. That said, I'm with nicole and I think it doesn't hang in a flattering way from the pictures. Specifically I find the cut around the bust to be unflattering. It gives a droopy appearance around the bust when the models are defintely not.
