Paint DIY Design Dilemma

How to replicate this wall texture

Took down a middle mirror in the bathroom to add a storage column but it’s bare drywall so I need to replicate this texture. Ignore the awfulness of the color and texture - it’s slated for demo in a year but I need this storage in the meantime and want it to look decent.

I’ve heard you can roll on joint compound? Is there a suggested dilution? Type of roller? Or is this w a sponge?

The area I'm needing to texture is just a small perimeter around where a storage medicine cabinet will fit between mirrors so not really need tons of product.

If it were me I'd make a soupy slurry, load up this sponge and flat tap it to try to get the peaks. Test it out on drywall to perfect the technique and the mix.

Who knows... maybe you can do it with paint and a sponge??

Thanks Paul. Where is that item from or is that something I should be able to find in any home store. I've never dome this type of project before - thanks!

They're small holes and the majority of them can be successfully spackled. If there is additional damage where, for example, the "feet" of some of the angle supports caused an impression, a narrow-bladed spackling knife and some joint compound can be used to artfully remedy the dents. Also, if you're installing your own system, thoughtful placement of the new components can hide at least some of the holes. And, once the walls are painted, the new system is installed, and the clothes are put back, any deficiencies in your repairs won't be on display anyway.

I think you are going to have to decide which walls you want to keep with brick look, then do a board and batton treatment and/or Sheetrock covering on other brick surfaces. It’s just way too much brick. What style is outside of the house. The ceilings look low so a B&B wall treatment with vertical Barton’s would help visually lift the ceiling. Lots of great ways to moderate the amount and look of the brick. Probably some cool combo is in order. BUT plan major adjoining rooms out in a master plan so everything works together. I would remove the trim, before installing the drywall. The door jambs can have a 1/4 inch long shim put on the existing. If its done correctly, and then painted, you will never every see it. Receptacles, can have a very inexpensive extension put on them, to bring them out to the proper depth.

I can't see the texture in that photo -- need something much closer. In the meanwhile, here's an image search on "drywall textures". Find the one(s) that are closest to what you have and then search for possible methods to create it.

There are aerosol cans spray on texture that I've seen in places like Home Depot. Different textures avail, but maybe only three or so. You might try the one that looks closest to what you want doing a small practice area on a board if looking for a minimally sized short lived fix.

@morz8 - Washington Coast I did see those but they all seems to be orange peel. But good to know since thats' what we have in the newer parts. We do have some wonky doors from prior elderly owners probably not caring for the foundation properly. We've fixed all the cracks but incase they return was wondering how how to duplicate the pro's orange peel - now I know.
