Walls come alive with 3D art. Turn a wall into a show; make a statement. Whether it is made of plastic, plaster, clay, wood, metal, or any medium including paper, I am seeing more and more interesting wall art. Take a look at these and get inspired to turn a wall into an expression of your personal style!
Woven grasses create great texture on a wall when multiple pieces are grouped together. I have used these pieces on a large wall space. They are easy to hang and seem to be flying off the shelves of West Elm.
You can create a free-flowing, whimsical feel with small 3D art spread along the wall.
Tiles of different shapes, patterns and color look great pulled together in a rectangle or square.
Make your own art and showcase it in a big way, as this clever person did. To see how she created this one-of-a-kind piece, click here.
I love the idea of placing 3D art in wall boxes. You can have a lot of fun with this, painting the box a contrasting color to the rest of the wall, then adding in metal artwork. Metal art is popular right now and can be found everywhere.
Tall 3D art is a fabulous focal point above a sofa. It pulls the back of the sofa up toward the ceiling. When you use wood you instantly get a warm effect, creating a cozy seating area.
Ceramic artist Katherine Dube creates amazing wall sculptures with subtle colors that trick the eye, appearing to climb up the wall in twists and turns. Click here to read Becky Harris' interview with the artist and her creative process.
Create a whimsical feel using these Umbra Wallflowers. Bunch a few of them together, then add more to create waves and spirals. If you use white 3D art, you can choose a monochromatic look like this, or paint your wall a deep color for contrast. Use them in a nursery or child’s bedroom to create a fairy tale, wonderland-like space for new curious eyes!
Add 3D flying butterflies too, taking off toward the ceiling. I have used butterflies from Umbra. It was so easy to put them on the wall. They come with little push pins. I pushed little metal thumbtacks into the wall where I wanted the butterflies, then attached the butterflies to the thumbtacks by magnet. Check out all the Umbra wall decor here.

If you have a wall that gets direct sun, or have lights directed at a wall, hang artistic shapes up off the wall for beautiful shadows.
Display shapes within a shape! This heart is made from lots of little paper hearts. The texture and color in this shape create a loving little spot in a room.
These stunning sculptures are just "hanging around." When you have such fantastic figures on your wall you don't need other décor.
Tip: If you are placing heavy pieces on a wall make sure you use the proper hanging equipment. Don't be afraid to ask questions at the gallery or shop where you are buying the art, or from your local hardware store.

This 3D wall mural made of pottery is amazing. Large scale 3D art makes a huge impression. You can look at it over and over and see new things.
The cutest 3D wall art! Inspiration that can come from anything.
These film reels are a perfect fit for a media room. Pier 1 Imports has them in large sizes. The round shape works really well with the horizontal stripes.
Use 3D art in a niche for a big effect. The alcove frames the piece, making it feel large and important.
Masks are great 3D art to hang on a wall. You can also try hanging hats, and other things you love and collect.
It's a climbing wall, and a work of art! Both functional and fun to look at.
