There are a few tools you can use to do so, but they all do the same thing. First you have to remove the blade (make sure the mower can't start when you are doing this). Once the blade is off you either need a dremel tool, a bench grinder, or a file. I use a dremel tool. They make a blade sharpener attachment, which I have, but I don't use it because it doesn't work very well with mulching blades. I use the the sanding drum attachment. Whatever you use to sharpen the blade, you are basically removing enough steel from the angled ends to get a nice clean edge while maintaining the correct blade angle. I just hold it in my hand, but it might be a good idea to put it in a vice if you have one. Make sure you wear eye protection if you are using a power tool to sharpen your blade. There are several videos on Youtube showing you how a blade is sharpened and how it should look when you are done. After it's sharp use a blade balancer to make sure the blade is balanced (it looks like a cone and costs a few bucks at most hardware stores).

I cut the small pulley off. Turned it upside down cut a groove to except square key ,clamped it, and added the bolt. Adjust belt size, and added 15 to 20 mph. No adjustments to throttle. Fun stuff! Froaden.

St Augustine really doesn't need all that much water when it's established, but it will need more water as new sod. The trick with St. Augustine in the summer is not to scalp it.....we leave our mulching mower set up high. It does mean we have to mow a bit more often, but we have a front yard with grass, and my neighbors--whose lawn crew cuts the grass at about three inches---have next to nothing, even though they paid to resod a year ago. I can't afford to water my grass regularly and rarely ever do (and then only the front yard) unless it's looking really, really stressed. I want to also point out that St A is tolerant of light shade, but hates medium to deep shade and will not grow there at all. I'm not familiar with buffalo grass, but I'd suggest going with a ground cover under any heavy tree shade. StA grows all right in my front yard under a thinned out ash tree where the light is dappled, but there is none at all under the heavily branched ash tree in the backyard (it's on the utility easement and I wouldn't get near the power line with a saw if you paid me a million bucks). I grow ferns under there. Previous owner had black mondo grass. Good luck! If it were up to me, I'd just take the vast majority of my grass out.
