Frustrating Crossover Problem

I will appreciate all assistance with my hot water to cold side crossover issue. I began experiencing an initial flow of hot water on cold faucet single handle setting and also from cold side of single handle faucets from several locations in my home. This became noticeable after replacing a non operating Grundfos recirculating pump with same new and seems to only occur when this pump is on. (Old pump died a many years ago) My home hot water system has a builder installed hot water recirculating system that returns hot water via dedicated pipe to bottom water heater inlet. A one way swing valve is correctly installed on the recirc line. I’ve checked all faucets for cross over and replaced 4 shower mixer cartridges to be sure.

Only abnormality is hot water continues to flow from a downstairs single handle pantry faucet after I turn off hot water supply valve on top of my WH. Hot water flow stops when I turn off hot water supply under cabinet. Hot water flow finally stops when I turn off valve on hot water recirculation pipe. This finding persists when recirculating pump is turned off. Finding also persists when under cabinet cold water valve is turned off. No other faucets in my home demonstrate this behavior. Also noticeable is that this pantry faucet is closest faucet to water heater and that hot water flow from all other faucets (except this one)in my house ceases after I turn off hot water supply valve at WH.

I am grateful in advance for expert options that will help me solve this problem.

Hi, I have the same problem, but I live in a very hot area. The water is even warm from the city water main. Try watering your lawn and see if the water gets cold. Maybe you don't have a problem.

HI

I just membered about 40 years ago I read an article in a magazine about a system to deliver fast hot water and they used the cold-water line for circulation instead of a dedicated line. I don't think it worked out. Maybe that's what you have.

Thanks for both inputs. I stopped by BJs this afternoon and took another look at the Acer, then I looked at the notebooks again. A Toshiba Satellite at only $100 more (seems there is a pattern here, up $100 at a time and before you know it you're at $1,000) and a 13" screen. This too looked great as my last two notebooks (including the one I'm typing on now) are 15.6" (not sure about the "0.6" part). The Satellite has a slightly higher quality look about it, but still has that shiny "plastic" look about the case - not sure how well that holds up. As my active machine is my notebook, I think I'd better not go below the 13" screen just mentioned. I don't like to bother to plug in a keyboard and monitor, I just use the notebook "raw". The Satellite has a AMD Athlon Dual Core MV-40, any views on that processor, compared to an Intel Dual Core.

The best thing to do is turn the printer off and then make sure that any pending print jobs are deleted from the print queue. Look for a little printer icon near the bottom right corner of the screen, on the Windows taskbar. Double click the icon to view the items in the print queue, then delete each one. Frustrating staining problem.!!Please Help!!

I believe your mistake(s) were during the 1st time staining. Oak doesn't require conditioner. What brand stain and finish was it and did the instructions reccomend conditioner be used with oak? If conditioner was reccomended by the stain manufactur,I am going on a limb and say that A. They were wrong,and B. They said so just to sell additional merchandise,not help customer get best results possiable. Although conditioner would cause conditioned wood to stain lighter,it should not cause the blotching you have. I will go farthur out on the limb and guess that you either A.Did not condition 1 door then stain it but instead conditioned several and conditioner had dried by the time stain was applied. OR You used Polyshades or another "one step" product rather than a clear coat. Now we come to the present and how to fix the problem. I have serious doubt a professional can make it look as good as it should have origionaly other than painting the cabinets. Once a finish has been applied,it is next to impossible to remove all of it and start from scratch. The old finish is preventing penitration around where handles were. And finally,what is said to be possible with gel stain is exaggerated except in the hands of a real artisian with mucho pratice. I made several assumptions but you gave so scant information to work with. I'm anchous to see how far I missed it.

Hi Tamara, I have often posted photos before with no problems. Now I click on the icon, go to the photo on my computer, click on it, and nothing happens. Just nothing. I seem to recall someone else mentioned an issue a few days ago, but I can't remember who it was. Thanks for the reply.

I solved this by installing a back flow check valve on cold water supply to my water heater. Appears now that hot water expansion plus additional pressure from recirc pump was driving hot water backwards into my cold water supply line. I now need to relocate my expansion tank between the check valve and the water heater.
