It just dawned on me I have TWO secretaries here within say 12 foot of each other. One in the living room and one in the hallway. Both totally different styles but both are secretaries. And from where I sit in the living room it almost looks like the one is in the bedroom. OOPs I see my hubby is standing in the bedroom doorway so you can not see into that room. It is funny how when we moved in here I had all the furniture set where to go on my mind. Now we have been here for a little over a year I am already to make some changes. This is going to be fun. I wanted to pop back on for anyone who may have been following this thread that may be interested in any progress I’ve made. I didn’t mean to go so silent, things in our world just got a little hectic and this project got pushed down the list. No major changes, but a couple of updates. I did add some gallery frames at eye level in the entry hall. I really love them (mainly because of the photos I chose), and stop to stare at them often! I rehomed some of our throw pillows to the living room and added this blue velvet one from Pottery Barn. That actually reduced the number of “extra” pillows on the bed by three, which made my husband quite happy! The biggest thing is probably this bench I found, which we are really enjoying! My husband used to sit on the foot of the bed in the morning to put his socks on, typically while I’m still in bed. We have a SleepNumber, so it would throw off the distribution and disrupt my sleep. This way, the bench adds a pop to the room and is also functional. :) I haven’t addressed the mirror or “too high” wall hanging yet. I do have something sentimental coming that will hang above our bed. Would love to eventually change out our nightstands... but we’re in the process of growing our family and I don’t want to swap inexpensive for inexpensive, so I think I will wait on those so that I can really invest in them. I also haven’t decided if we will add a dresser or not. For now I’m kind of thinking no as we don’t need the storage, and if we eventually have a bassinet in our room it may begin to feel crowded. Will revisit that later! I don’t know that this is all that important to anyone, but everyone was so good to reply to my initial post, so I felt I owed an update!

What a beautiful room! Do you want to go cooler or warmer, with the rug/wall? Traditional or abstract/contemporary? From the bed I'd guess you want something more modern but trad would look good, too, and the light fixture, to me, is almost like a mix of industrial and Victorian. Gray is my favorite color; I've used it as my base throughout my house, and I've paired it with oranges, yellows, and blues in various rooms. (I love orange, too, so were it my room that's what I would do--a rug with a nice mix of shades and colors, and you can then pick out your favorites and use them on the wall and other decor.) But there are plenty of colors that would look lovely with what you have--maybe a deep subdued red or brick red for a dramatic look, or a seafoam or pale olive green if you want something more airy. And IMO you can never go wrong with navy or midnight blue and white/ivory--it goes with everything and suits every style and look--so if you want to keep it cool, that's where I personally would go. The lovely warm floor would keep white walls from being too sterile, I think, as would the pattern on the wall. Is that a fireplace across from the bed (far left corner of the second picture)? If so, a picture of that might help--what kind of surround does it have? Tile or brick or...? What color? Mantel? Again, it's a gorgeous room. I love the bed and fixtures and flooring, and all those windows! I hope I've been some help! Good luck! Whatever you decide, I'd love to see some photos, once you've decided/finished.

If you post the current layouts with detailed measurements and any must-haves, nice-to-haves, etc, you can get a lot of great advice here from professionals and other folks with talent in design. You may have difficulty finding someone who will do a plan for you who is not also involved in doing the work. Or you may be able to find a designer who'll do a plan for a set fee. Just remember when you start remodeling anything, there are always 1000 decisions and problems that pop up along the way. Are you prepared to deal with that as a DIYer?
