First and foremost, imo, this room needs a carpet/rug/something substantial on the floor. I'd also consider getting larger lamps on the bedside tables. I would keep the walls neutral; my taste is for creams and beiges.

I would figure out the rug before deciding on wall color. depending on the rug you choose could change the wall color

add a rug, place a bench at the end of the bed, actual bedding, larger lambs maybe in a metal finish to add some lightness. they are too dark currently. depending on rug, might need to change drapery. could possibly add a chaise lounge in the corner, seems like there is plenty of room from the bed to the wall. some artwork.

what size is the room, looks very large so will need a very large rug, but will be determined by his size of room

Do you want to go cooler or warmer, with the rug/wall? Traditional or abstract/contemporary? From the bed I'd guess you want something more modern but trad would look good, too, and the light fixture, to me, is almost like a mix of industrial and Victorian.

Gray is my favorite color; I've used it as my base throughout my house, and I've paired it with oranges, yellows, and blues in various rooms. (I love orange, too, so were it my room that's what I would do--a rug with a nice mix of shades and colors, and you can then pick out your favorites and use them on the wall and other decor.) But there are plenty of colors that would look lovely with what you have--maybe a deep subdued red or brick red for a dramatic look, or a seafoam or pale olive green if you want something more airy.

And IMO you can never go wrong with navy or midnight blue and white/ivory--it goes with everything and suits every style and look--so if you want to keep it cool, that's where I personally would go. The lovely warm floor would keep white walls from being too sterile, I think, as would the pattern on the wall.

Is that a fireplace across from the bed (far left corner of the second picture)? If so, a picture of that might help--what kind of surround does it have? Tile or brick or...? What color? Mantel?

Again, it's a gorgeous room. I love the bed and fixtures and flooring, and all those windows!

Do not have a fire place or mantel just a large room. With the wood trim and floors thinking of lightening up the room with a light carpet and light wall paint. Just having a hard time picking those out. Thank you for all your input though. Very helpful

what color are your drapes? I ask because I saw this pic and thought this rug would look nice because its lighter feeling with a little darker color in it and I like that because it brings in just a little dark from the curtains. this room has a base of white bedding but brings some dark in as well. a little dark with bedding, maybe in shams or accent pillows for your room. I also like the white walls in this room too, feels like the direction you want to go with your room. i also like the dark lamp shades. this is from pottery barn

The drapes are a darker green velvet material. I am going to get a new comforter and pillows too. White walls seem to be the way to go. Thank you for all your input I will look into these

Try to find bedding size wise that tpucks under your mattress or a bit below the wood . Very nice large room
