Kitchens Design Dilemma Lighting

Help with a lighting fixture over kitchen island

Kitchen island extends about 30” past the kitchen ceiling. I find it it’s a little dark at that end as the room has high ceiling and just not enough light hitting that part of the island. Anybody has a solution for a cool light that would work there. I’m thinking of linear fixture that will only extant sound 12” or so past the ceiling another maybe some extendable light? Including pictures. Any help greatly appreciated

What about some sort of track lighting system where the fixture stays within the kitchen ceiling but some light can be directed towards the end of the island?

Yes. It’s what I’m looking for but can’t find anything that would work. I need like a off center pendant

Both are way too large for the scale of your kitchen. They will overbear the space and give you very poor lighting for a working kitchen, which seems in this photo to be very dark. Looks like you have 8 ft ceilings, some slop and a recessed area? I would really think about 3 ft fixture over a 5 ft space . this will make you feel like the room is even smaller.................I wouldn't put pendants in this room AT ALL.............

Ok so I read this last night in bed on my phone with my tired blurry eyes and I thought why does Flo want me to put a brass gravy boat on my coffee table? Then figured out it’s a bird! I like these ideas and will use them. So I’m only using the taller vase right? The vase is 11.81” tall and the MC candlestick with its candle is 13” tall. Enough of a difference? I also found this tray on Etsy. I like the octagon shape a lot. And she will customize it whatever dimension you want. So I’d probably order the other items, place them together and see what kind of width for the tray I need. This comes in black too. @flo mangan Oh the vase will look taller with the branches! (Hope my cats don’t eat them!)

You have good lighting now so I would be picky on this. that being said I would just remove that dome light in favor of another can. and yes they are everywhere. seems something was done out of order or after something else was changed. Can you post a picture looking at the length of the island or toward the window.

this is a pretty traditional looking fixture suitable for Island and/or dining table it is from Wayfair.com Makson pendant ... just an observation. Center your area rug on the window and (fill that space with the rug) put the chaise/sectional at the edge of the rug.

IMO there's a lot visually going on in a small space. Have you considered simply changing the wattage of the bulbs in your ceiling downlights? To me that is the least espensive, easiest solution to gain more lighting.

Select a PAR LED bulb for your downlights.

That’s not going to help as I have about 30” of island going past the ceiling. Here is a better picture

Get a fixture like this and get an extra long wire to support it all the way up to second floor ceiling.
