Scam. The physical address they give on their contact page doesn’t exist, and I didn’t see a phone number or e-mail address anywhere.

The website appears to be brand new, they don’t have any social media pages, the name is generic on purpose (harder to search) … and although written better than most of this nature, I saw a few instances of bad punctuation.

They sure have a lot of stipulations on refunds, so I'm going with fake.

At the very least, very big red flags.

Evern better! At least when I googled Bernardo Street there does not seem to be any in the US. There are some Bernardo Avenues but they are not in Indiana.

I'd say not likely to be anything but a scam.

Well, they take paypal. So I'd probably order from them, Your credit card info will be kept from them and paypal will give you your money back if they are a scam. Their return policy is quite detailed and reasonable, so it seems very complex for a scam to go to all that trouble.

eta: ok I changed my view...Galena is in IL not IN, so they don't even know which state they are supposed to be in! It's a weird choice for a scam address either way.

Why bother with uncertainty? Plumbing parts are available everywhere.

Yes Oly, Galena is in IL not IN but the clincher is there is no BERNARDO STREET in the US ... So the chances of the wrong street and state? :)

Sheesh! Well, this particular part is not just a regular plumbing part and is something that's pretty much discontinued. Too bad for us! UGH! Maybe someone on ebay will sell one one day. :(

So what is this sort of a scam? What's their motive? Get credit card sales and not ship anything? They did go to a lot of trouble but if there's enough money in it then I guess it's worth it to them.

It does seem weird they would set up an elaborate scam to appear to sell obscure plumbing parts. I still think if I couldn't find it anywhere else, I might risk it using Paypal. They won't get any credit card info from you and Paypal will refund you if you don't get the part or have problems with a return.

I tried to send them a question about their address on their webform, but not even that worked. I’d avoid.

Yes, they want financial information.

It really doesn’t take these scammers much time or effort to make up fake websites. They copy photos, product info, and other pages from legitimate companies. Most change their name often, as well as what they pretend to offer.

Their claim that you can use Paypal isn’t real — it’s just another thing they add to look legit. When you click to buy something, and go to your cart, the only way to pay is by giving your CC info. (They also claim to take checks … yet the mailing address is fake.)

Try looking for the part at SupplyHouse dot com. I know that site is legit. Have ordered from them in the past. Items were in stock and shipped & received promptly.

probably their exposure is to rat them out as a scam! HA!

arkansas girl, my house is 1955, three bathrooms. Everything working just fine other than the landscape irrigation, all plumbing is vintage Kohler. If I do need something like a part for the guest room shower when that came up a few years ago, my plumber can track it down through his sources. He does not overcharge me, in fact its the opposite - he rarely charges me what I think is enough and I often will tip him.

He knows people and sources that I don't know and wouldn't have. I think he delights in finding some of the older bits and pieces to keep what was quality work still in quality working order ;)

Good sleuthing Jilly, It didn't occur to me to try to use Paypal on the actual site! Why would I believe a potential scam site?! Duh! But I would be savvy enough to not give them CC info if paypal weren't an option.

What plumbing part are you looking for? Maybe someone here has a source. I see some knowledgeable people here.

This morning I got an email (into my inbox, so it avoided the junk filter) that seemed to be from a legit law firm in Scottsdale, AZ - until I hovered my cursor over the "From" and saw that it was not from that firm (and I wouldn't be getting a message from them anyway!) It had a large attachment that was suspicious for something bad.

I googled the firm and did come up with one by that name, with a full website that looks legit - including photos of the attorneys and so forth - so I decided to email them to let them know that there was a scammer spoofing their firm. The email came back - "email address does not exist".

I think I will google the business address to see if it is real.

ETA: it is a real address and a law firm by that name is listed among the tenants.
