Need layout help with narrow living room & family room !!
Comments (2)Try a chaise sofa and one chair in the TV room so you have room for kids play area. In the living room use a 3-seat sofa and two chairs grouped around a coffee table and use floor lamp flanking the sofa....See MoreNeed help with choosing new area rug and chair for living room
Comments (12)Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I like the idea of some blue in the rug to pull from the photo above the fireplace, but I couldn't seem to find the right blue. A lot of the carpets had too bright of a blue. I'm limited to choices though because I'll only order from somewhere that has a store in my area where I can easily return the rug if I don't like it. I've decided to give this Safavieh carpet a try, I have it on order. I'm hoping the pattern and texture will provide enough interest. I'll work on the chair after that. I wonder if a chair with blue in it will still work if I get this carpet? I can tie the chair in by adding a few more toss cushions to the couch with blue in them and a couple of blue accessories throughout the rest of the space....See Moreconverting living area to office…help me design it!
Comments (15)Your spouse needs to provide input on how he uses his office space, wherever it is. In the posted pictures, I see all those beautiful tables in the middle of an "office", and they don't look at all like real life. In my office, I have my laptop, monitor (some people have two monitors), docking station, charger for my phone and the cords for all of those. And pads of paper, pens, pencils, a couple of file folders, coffee cup, water bottle, post-its, etc. And envision the cords off the back of those beautiful tables, and all my stuff accidently getting pushed (by me) off the back of the tables. How will your spouse use his space? In my home office (which I'm using about 90% more than I thought I would be), I have an adjustable-height desk with the long side against what would be the long side wall in your pictures, with the short end of the L in the front corner. My monitor is in the corner, and my laptop to the side. I can work relatively undisturbed, but look left and have a nice view out my front window. (My office is square, but I do have a wall of built-in shelves against my "back" wall, the same place your short wall is in your house.)...See MoreHi Friends! Comments (5)I like the idea of a window wall because otherwise you'll be in a cave. This may sound strange at first, but if you have curtains on the inside of your window wall you could draw them when you need more peace and quiet. They would also absorb noise to help keep your conversations from being heard all over the house. Is that alcove going to be enough space for everything you need when you're working?...See Moreeyecu980
