What do I do about this wood trim and cabinets?

We are doing a long overdue renovation on our house, and I am trying to decide what to do with the wood accents in this area of my house where our kids' bedrooms are and where our laundry room is.
We have these wood door casings and trim in our living room, too. The rest of the house is white trim, and it abruptly changes color to wood near the living room, so in a part that gets a lot of traffic. We want to change the door casings and paint the wood trim white.
Then, we realized it would probably look odd to change the trim and door casing to white in this part of the house without painting the wood cabinets. My contractor suggested leaving it all wood in this wing of the house. This area is right off the living room.
I'm undecided and am looking for opinions. We are painting the walls a warm white. At this point, we think BM Simply White. Trim will be same white in the rest of the house.
Options for the wing of the house pictured below:
1. Change door casings and make those white, and also paint the cabinets, color TBD.
2. Leave it the door casings and cabinets the way they are
3. Change door casings and make them white so that they match the rest of the house, but don't paint the cabinets.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My vote is option 1.. I would 100% paint the door casings, baseboards and the cabinets in the hallway. The cabinets in the other room with the brick floors can either stay the way they are or paint them as well. I just don’t like wood cabinets on wood floor.

100% paint the trim white. 100% paint the corner cabinet white. Either way on the longer run. Or glaze them a little darker…

It is up to the KD- Showplace is obligated to provide specs and answer questions ahead of time. The specs are very clear. IF I were dealing with and did not know what was used to construct the cubby I'd call tech and have an answer in 10 minutes. It certainly sounds like the KD called and asked for a replacement rather than a solution. As I said he should be calling with a possible solution and asking for advice. Faulting Showplace is simply wrong. Attached is a jpeg with a likely solution to your existing problem 1/4" panle trimmed on the front with a "Flat.96" An alternate is decorative end panels but that would involve changing the molding as LWO noted AND you would really want to also have them on the bottom then. I also included one way the cabinet could have been ordered BUT that has other issues. First -dimensions of the wine cubby cannot be altered at all (which is not unusual for that item in most brands. I could order it altered, attached and specify what it was made from and the thickness in a hi end custom brand- at 3 times the cost) So for that solution- extending the sides down the wall cabinets need to be ordered 3" wider than the cubby AND the stile at the sides of the cubby becomes 1-1/2" plus 3/4" or 2-1/4". An alternative is to order the wall cabinet deeper and only 1-1/2" wider- that would hide the outside edge of the cubby. The only other options would have been to do something different (would have been my suggestion); build it completely on site out of parts, or add the panel and the flat as shown in the solution. Note that the solutions to the existing problem OR the alternatives would have cost the OP more money in the first place. The KD is responsible for some accommodation but not the whole ticket. Note that I don't like it either but I can tell you that there will be people who would go "ooh, solid wood, that's great"...one man's ceiling... Tiling Window Sill...help please! What do I do with window trim?

My sink and window set-up are very similar to yours, right down to the window moulding abutting the sides of the cabinets. the only difference is that our sill is much deeper. We have a tall faucet as well. If you're thinking that you need to tile the sill because it will get wet, I can tell you that our sill does not get wet. Don't know why, but it just doesn't. If you want to, you could trim or remove the part of the old sill that sticks out horizontally and use a different piece of painted wood trim applied on its side. By this I mean so its front is flush with the front edge of the moulding on the side of the windows. This is what we did. We have a piece of moulding about 2 inches high and maybe 5/8 inches thick. The side window moulding runs into it. So it's like a frame to the window, but a different profile from the side moulding. It looks like it belongs there. We needed a flat moulding to have room for our faucet. We tiled up to the bottom of the cabinets, and the tile runs into (and stops at) the moulding on the sides and bottom of the window. It looks nice. Sorry I haven't learned how to post pics.

JudyG Designs what is a light warm grey that has the right undertones to minimize the heavy yellow in the antique white? My plan right now will be to keep the cabinets the antique because this is the 2nd time they've been painted (the first time the lady did a terrible job and I had to fire her and have her work removed) so I am worried about painting them a 3rd time. So I will paint the walls a light color that compliments the cabinets and gives them a whiter appearance. Paint the trim the antique to remove any stark white, paint the door a dark grey with the right warm undertones, the ceiling creamy white and next year we will replace the back splash to something simple that is either mix of white and cream or like a creamy herringbone. What do you think?

We have a small galley kitchen. Eleven years ago we installed quartersawn oak cabinets, the lowers stained chestnut and the uppers stained sand - an off white. I still love it and left the cabinet scheme when we had to refresh some elements about four years ago. I agree that you should use ubatuba on both perimeter and island. At first I wondered if your backsplash tile was too muddy and 'fancy' for lack of a better word but with your ubatuba, I liked it better the longer I looked at the combination. You get so many opinions - including mine! Have you talked to a tiler about the backsplash installation - they'll require a skilled installer I would think.

I am going to try to convince you to make a plan for your home, not one room at a time.

If your going to have white trim, paint all the trim in the house.

Cabinets are another story. Do you have the same cabinets in your kitchen or bathrooms? Painting cabinets and getting it done that the grain isn't showing is either expensive or a lot of work.

If you have the same cabinets in the kitchen it will be a repetition of the same in another room - helps tie things together.

Read some articles on picking a whole home color palettes.

Done right a home should flow seamlessly from room to room and feel like one cohesive space. Done wrong and you end up with disjointed rooms that feel like puzzle pieces from all different puzzles.

These are some of my favorite examples of whole home color palettes.

Along with the colors they also have similar styles in each room. . .

@jenniferhogan after reading this, I went online and read about selecting color palettes, tips for making a cohesive home design, and learned about the 60-30-10 rule. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I feel like I have a better plan with my project now.

I am in the midst of a multi-year renovation redoing a home I bought 5 years ago. Sadly it is taking forever, but I am in my 60s, have 2 older siblings that are nursing home bound and need help, had a heart attack and cancer - so my house reno goes as slowly as it needs to go.

I do much of my design work in excel - just the easiest program for me to use.

Step one was deciding the colors that must stay - I am not changing the flooring in my foyer or the pink brick wall that separates my foyer and living room. Same pink brick as the exterior of my home.

I also own a lot of art and décor that I have collected over the years.

I created a collage of some of these items overlaid onto a picture of the brick wall and flooring

For the purpose of helping others I used different neutral families with my collage:

I used the Maria Killam color wheel - not perfect, but it is easily accessible and gives a good idea of what direction to go with the neutral selection. Her wheel is missing greige and her green gray is more greige than green gray.

The circle goes

Pink beige (Not great with all my cool colors , but best of the beiges)

Orange beige (Worse)

Yellow beige (worse again)

Green Beige (Still pretty awful)

Green gray / Greige - (really muddy looking next to my colors)

Greige is the color between green beige and green gray. Sometimes looks more beige, sometimes more gray

Blue Gray - This is a contender, but feels too cool next tothe brick

Violet gray - better with my art - just a bit off next to the brick

Taupe ( the gray beige that falls between violet gray and pink beige) - works well with the brick and complements the colors - Taupe was my winner!

Selected BM Frosted Toffee - described by BM as a rosy pink that fades to a violet gray.

You can see the one piece of LVT sitting on the left, also a mix of lighter and darker taupe - works well with the paint.

I did have to try quite a few taupe colors, all not quite pink enough and came off a bit muddy before I got to this one. Doesn't look terribly pink with such a big dose of pink in the brick.

colors are always about the combinations not the individual color. See how orange the cardboard box looks next to the taupe wall.

Not everything is set in stone, but I have a direction and know how things will flow and other than the lime green that I love and doesn't work so well with the other colors I have the colors I love dispersed throughout the home. I hid the lime green in the basement.

I will finalize decisions one room at a time, but always with the whole in mind.

@Jessica L I also have read many articles on developing a whole-house color scheme. I am totally convinced it's what I want. Sounds like you are too. However, until I read this one, I had no clue how to start. I now am completely settled on what the colors will be. I hope you and others find it useful too. Please share any good ones you have found. I may start a thread on this just to help anyone interested.
