Triazicide or Ortho Bug Clear Lawn Insect Killer for Rose Midge Fly?

Does anyone use broadcast by hand application of either Triazicide or Ortho Bug Clear, both in granular form, spread upon the mulch/soil surface of your rose bed to control Rose Midge Fly?

I soil drenchedr for rose midge fly last year using Imidacloprid. I had disastrous results but was too ill to do anything about it due to back surgery as the midge population exploded. I believe I may have applied the 12 month lasting Imidacloprid incorrectly.

This year I am 'back in the saddle,' pretty much, and have used my old spray system with improving results, but very slow. Never approving of the Diazinon granules used by the old rosarians which is now removed from commerce, I hesitate using any of its replacements, Triazicide or Ortho Bug Clear.

Any info will be much appreciated.
