Where on furniture can you find the manufacturer?

I have an older bedroom suite inherited from my grandmother--headboard--low boy--high boy--night stands and trunk. Where is the manufacturer usually stamped. I can't find it!. It's from the late 50s/early 60s. Thank you.

In many cases there is some sort of maker ID inside a top drawer of,dresser or chest For example, imhave a White of Mebane bedroom set from the late '50s or ’60, which is marked inside the top right hand drawer of the dresser. On the other hand, another bedroom set from the late ’60s has no marking at all.

It should be inside the drawer for a dresser, but for a table or chairs, it would be on the bottom. Not sure about headboard or trunk. Only higher end furniture was permanently marked in the 50s and 60s, and so if it was mass produced furniture, you might not find a mark at all, and it would have been labeled with a removable tag. A lot of high-end custom furniture is not marked either.

publickman, 'bespoke' furniture is custom made; so it's just an adjective. Zacc, the vast majority of people posting here are from the USA, so you may not find much help here, sorry to say. Thanks all for the suggestions! I've been checking consignment stores and Craigslist (Donna--you're setting me up for the CL fail thread, aren't you? hehe!) for wall units and related things. I don't mind used (textiles excluded) and I'm happier with more vintage styles anyway. I have thought about going to the local cabinet guy who has done my last two kitchens. If he doesn't do free-standing furniture he probably would know someone who does. I do know that I don't want this built in. I know I need the storage space and that isn't likely to change, but I don't know that I'll always want it in this location.

Not sure what your idea of budget friendly is without any numbers, but if you can swing Lee Industries upholstery, via Crate & Barrel (which has a 15 percent off sale every autumn) or your local Lee Industries distributor, you can choose the fabric, which includes some florals which you can see here. You can also go the Ikea route -- I quite like the lines of their new Farlov sofa . Their Ektorp sofa comes in a floral print. Or you can get new slipcovers for your Ikea sofa and chairs, like the ones at Bemz, which has this beautiful Designers Guild floral (a different colorway is here), or their blue rose floral, For curtains (either floral or stripe, which is part of the English cottage look, to co-ordinate with florals), look at Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, Country Curtains (hurry, they are going out of business right now), and even Ikea (here and here).
