The wallpaper is nice, but the shutters and artwork above are not nice.

Woah! Marcolo, after reading about that, I want to vinylize my whole home! These suggestions are useful. I'm thinking perhaps wallpaper elsewhere and using maybe a plain vinyl paper in the alcove or getting a super water-resistant paint over the tub. Oddly enough it's the smoothest looking wall in the bathroom so it might look okay painted. I wouldn't know how to pick a complementary tile to go up there. It's got a very finished edge. It does get wet when adults use the shower--the tile only goes up 5 feet. The wall has no business being in such good condition, but the shower fixture is a comparatively recent addition. I've definitely checked out savethepinkbathrooms--mine ain't pink enough! The flamingo wallpapers don't match. :) Most colors that work with pink just don't go. It's a peachy tannish pink. Thanks for the suggestions. I guess there are better options than paneling my wallpaper.

I'm still not getting a sense of your style...what is drama to one person may be crazy to another. I'd suggest searching in houzz for wallpaper and foyer in photos and see what might appeal. If you're going for modern drama then a large graphic may suit you. But keep in mind that it's not just the color but the level of contrast between the color and the background that's going to count in terms of how 'disturbing' the pattern is. If you're looking to warm up the area, then a woven texture could be what you want. This is an example of vibrancy driven by the boldness of the graphic design, the repetition of the pattern and the color contrast. It's certainly dramatic, though I couldn't live with it. And be aware that some papers really speak to a specific style be it asian influence... ...or traditional...

Do You Think The Ceiling/Trim Color & Wallpaper Work Together?

My first thought when I saw the photo was wondering how accurate the ceiling color is, based on the nearby window -- we don't know if it's north-facing, what time of day the photo was taken etc. And it's a high gloss finish. According to the ID, https://www.instagram.com/p/CFfJZ6eJqza/ the paint color is BM Buckland Blue, which is much more similar to the lamp color than the way the paint color appears in the photo, at least on my screen, Buckland Blue is also warmer in real life than the way the color looks on the ceiling, as a cooler grey tone. It's interesting that this is area isn't an actual room, but the back staircase. I *love* the wallpaper in the Writer's Lair room, and the Mark Sikes living room (though I don't like the baby blue upholstered furniture, rug, and curtains Sikes chose). carol, from the pre-reno photos, it looks like everything except for the panelled library had already been painted, https://www.kipsbaydecoratorshowhouse.org/dallasgallery It's a remarkable effort during a pandemic, and for the very first Kips Bay show house in Dallas. I do think there may have been the idea of going over the top with the rooms to help draw attention to the inaugural Dallas effort, and perhaps with the pandemic, the idea of providing an extra sensory treat for viewers. It's terrific that they're selling virtual tours ($20 each) as well because of the pandemic, to offset the smaller number able or willing to tour in person.

I would focus on 3 colors predominantly- black for furniture and curtains (existing unless you’re looking to change window treatments too), warm gray for carpet, paint and background colors and gold for accents. I would pull the carpet color from the color of the leaves on the wall paper to tie it together. Same for paint. I’d take one of the colors you like from the paper and match it to paint. I would recommend pottery barn furniture in black - it will look much better than the mid tone gold wood pieces the previous owner had.

What’s the goal with shutters leaning on door? Trying to hide the door? Or, I guess not as everything in front of it only serves to call attention to it & block it from use. The set up only makes me want to ask - what’s behind that door & why is it blocked?

If trying to make the door look like a window then the art should have been behind the sutters not where it is \impossible to see.I think the wallpaper is kind of blah .

nothing wrong with the concept, but the styles don't go together.

where do the doors open in to?

Is this a heavily trafficed area?

Shutters are too small, the console is too modern for the feel. the framed art is too big.

and the vase is lonely... is it a real plant?

No. I don’t like any of it. It’s all blocking the door, and the artwork above the door looks silly.

I’m not a wallpaper fan, but this setting looks like an older home so the wallpaper may be fine here.

Why are you blocking the door? What is this tiny space? I do like the art, but not way up there, all by itself. The shutters just look odd.

The shutters are a very pretty color though. But I am not crazy about them in front of a door. If the door weren't there though...

It looks too “busy” with shutters on a door; the painting is not needed. I feel “less is more”. The shutters are lovely; but they would look more appealing framing a window.

The entire vignette looks like amateur hour.

If you want the door eradicated? Buy a folding screen, or make one, three parts and tall enough to block out door casing. WALLPAPER the folding screen.

The chest would be better in black or removed unless you really need it. The pale pink, and pale oak seem ......wimpy? No to the large art above the door casing as well.
