Comments (16)Mrs. Dudley Cross' is one of my favorite Old Garden Tea roses, she blooms a lovely hue of pink and yellow in spring with a sublime cream hue in the center. In late summer and autumn the blooms are covered with a light crimson hue. Very few prickles, so few she is said to be thornless. 'Lady Hillingdon' is the best apricot rose I've grown, lovely scent, and it blooms nearly constantly all through the growing season from February past Christmas, nearly twice as long as any of our Austins or Floribundas. 'Susan Louise' for a climber, mine has no prickles on her lowest 4 feet of canes. Big mostly pink roses with a cream center, along with Lady Hillingdon has the longest bloom season of any rose I've grown out of more than 200. Light fragrance. Another vote for Le Vesuve, the blooms have a pert delicacy which I find charming. Another nearly constant bloomer this rose has a smoky scent. Those would be my first picks. The Old Garden Teas are my favorite roses for their vast subtle hues of pink and yellow, always elegant, never vulgar in coloration. I love the fragrance of Lady Hillingdon, Anna Olivier, Mrs Dudley Cross and Comtesse Emmeline de Guigne which changes from pink to pure peach depending on the season, its' fragrance has notes of stone fruit scent. . Old garden Teas need and prefer little pruning and once established I never fertilize them because they don't need it when planted in well amended soil. Photos of each may be seen at helpmefind.com/roses under Search. Best wishes for splendid roses, Lux....See MoreWhich appliances would you pick from this, if any?

I don't really bake cookies etc in it as I use my standard oven but have cooked a few residuals in it and they came out good. GD - I have the ISE 1 HP but not sure of the model. 1 HP is overkill but it is my security blanket - nothing is going to jam in that baby!! DW - I have a Miele but it is getting older so can't tell you about specific models. I do recommend taking your dishes to the appliance store and figuring how they fit. My normal dishes fit perfectly on the left or right side of the rack. My Magic Flute china fits best on the left side of the rack as they are tall and thin. My pantry dishes fit on either side - but the pantry bowls definitely fit best on the left side of the rack. I can pop 12-14 place settings (Dinner plates, salad plates, BB plates and small dessert dishes and the silverware) into the DW. I can put 12+ standard glasses into the DW as well - but giant red wine glasses will take up room and something will need to give....See MoreWhich would you pick for an LED step light / night light
Comments (4)LOL re "pimples"! true! but we don't actually have that many that are strictly "hallway" (since we don't have a lot of walls) - i think only 3 actually - 2 in the hallway connecting the kids' respective bedrooms (just around the corner from the staircase), and one right outside our bedroom (across from the stair landing). In comparison, there will be 9 others that will be "staircase step lights". To have just 3 being different would make them stand out. our hallway walls are supposed to be off-white (staircase wall will be either plastered or tiled to resemble concrete). We thought about buying white ones to "blend in" but didn't like the "plastic" look :-I...See MoreWhich option would you choose?
Comments (32)Thank you all so much. My husband and I are really conflicted on what to do about the tree. To add to what the last poster put...it kills me to think we could possibly remove this tree. My babies are 5 and 3, and they've grown up playing near it, and learning about nature, seasons, birds, etc. from this tree. It has significant meaning to me. Plus, I really do think it helps our front porch and living room stay cool. It would definitely alter the look of our house if we removed it. I just honestly don't know how we'd take care of the sidewalk without killing the tree. Even if we tore up the two blocks of sidewalk being buckled up, how would we even fix it, because the root is clearly what is tearing up the sidewalk? We couldn't remove the root or grind it without killing the tree, right? In any case, the tree needs trimmed. The branches are extending over the roof of our front porch, causes clogged gutters and so forth. It's enormous and needs to be at least trimmed. That we can all agree on! I want to save it. My husband is very anti-tree and wouldn't be upset if it was gone. I personally listed the tree as one of the reasons I wanted the house. I hear that at one time, when the street was newly established, every other house had a sycamore, but over the years, they've been removed. We've also asked the city about help, and they said that trees and sidewalks are all the owners' responsibilities. :( Trust me, I want to save the tree at all costs, but I have to think about safety, too, you know? This is all very confusing. Especially because today, my daughter and I made shortbread cookies, and as I was cleaning up the mess, I thought, "If these were dark granite counters, I would have smears and streaks from rolling this dough." And with the laminate, it was very easy cleanup. So why mess with a good thing? See how conflicted I am? I'm not completely sold on granite, really. I just think it looks sooo pretty, that's all. Thanks again, everyone! Oh, and the reason we would want a permanant roof over the patio is because we really would like a ceiling fan, and it would feel like more of a room than it would if we just had an awning. But i did consider one. Beth...See MoreRelated Professionals
